Another garage queen I ran across, an '85 Trek 450 in great shape mechanically and aesthetically. Alas, the top tube decals didn't do too well in the cleanup... Anyway, it's too small for me at 53cm and I have too many as is, I'll fix this up and find a new home for it - possibly a friend who's been asking about a steel bike in his size and price range - this might be the right one...

Ooh! And I found this in the small saddlebag that came with it. Knocked 30 cents off the price, what a steal!

86 Fuji Opus III

I stopped at a local antique store to check out a 1958 Schwinn racer 3-speed while looking around I found this 1986 Fuji Opus III sitting behind the store he was still trying to decide what to do with it. I brought it home for $50

1987 Schwinn Super Sport

Grabbed a nice original Super Sport today. Full 600 group, Cinelli bars and stem and Rigida wheels. Very clean ride. Love these late 80s Schwinn’s.

Well, it's here. Fished it out of the dumpster in the rain at the co-op's new location after letting it sit there for a couple of weeks. I figured if it was unreachably covered with more scrap or had been grabbed by now then I was spared having to bring it home and would only feel badly about some of those rod brake parts getting away. As it is, the brake pads will replace the (wrong!) Dia Compe pads on the rear of my complete-but-ratty Tourist and I'll hang the rest from the rafters as garage decor until someone who needs it comes along. It's a 24" frame with a slight dent in the top tube.

Dumpster view a few weeks ago.

Here it is at the old place, how it looked for a couple of years and when I first saw it.

Freewheel vise, still being made/sold - Freewheel Cluster Vise . I just got one recently, to take apart an old Suntour cassette, the kind where the two smallest sprockets thread on. Works great. By no means obsolete.

Univega Ital Sport. Campy Triomphe (?) Derailleurs, shifters, brake levers. Sugino crank, Miche pedals, Ofmega hubs
$15

"Gimme 10 bucks or it's going to the dump" I gave him $15.

Frame is decent & my size, but don't need another bike. Could be a winter, fender bike.

Saved these the other day from certain death as I pulled them out of a large scrap bin. See the thread here for more details about the save and what I'm trying to do to keep this from happening, as it is an ongoing thing.

Contents -

Schwinn Super Sport
Raleigh Super Course
Schwinn Mirada
Schwinn Crisscross
Trek 800
+ various small bits and wheels
Bridgestone MB-3

I will be donating most to the local co-op and probably working on them myself to get them back in shape. I'm going to donate the Super Course and the Super Sport frames to any BF member who is willing to donate some tubes or patch kits to the outfit where I got them from. Sizes are large, probably 64cm or so.

For 2 $20s I got a parts bike, 87 Trek Antelope 800 so I can update the Clunker Challenge Ibex now that I am done with the Mileage. Front wheel and stem will migrate to the Ibex for sure and other parts will get sold, donated to the Co-op or put in the parts bin

"Barn Fresh" as they say; covered in dust. This Trek 620 (1985) was put out in the trash near my home. I spotted it while out on a ride.
Score. Trek 620 with Shimano 600 triple, Matrix wheels, Dia Compe cantis, Huret shifters, Huret RD, Stronglight headset. Original handlebars and brake lever are missing.

$10 at yardsale. Don't know the name of the bike store but telephone number is now a fax number for an elementary school
12 x 24 inch so practical sized sign I can hang in house
and funny thing I happen to have both Fuji and Raleighs in my garage.....

Back from the days of not dialing area codes for local calls so at least 27-28 years old

Picked this up today for the flick stand. Actually the parts are all in good condition but the frame shows a lot of deep rust and the chrome forks are flaking. No name on the bike.

So that motivated me a bit to keep looking.....and a week later.....and another 100 bucks.....a 1989 Tempo, absolutely mint just like in the showroom. Had to put new tubes in the factory original tires....but that was it....spent its life indoors, and it sure shows.

Not the typical bike in this thread, but a guy I work with came in today and said he had a bike for me in his truck. So this is the bike. After looking at it for a bit in the garage I think I’m going to look for a skeleton to put on it to greet the kiddos on Halloween.
