It is quite original. No shipping. Just have no way to do it. Don't ride anymore,
am 74 years old, so need to get it to someone who will take care of her.

Glad to see it did go to someone here, someone who will take care of her.

So are you getting any closer to unloading some bikes?

How about a Pink Prelude? Columbus Tenax, newish wheels with Sun M13's, 105RD, brakes, and cranks, and a 600 FD? Tires are sport 1000 Conti though, I need to keep my Racelites. It goes fast enough to outrun the idiotic, and is quite a conversation piece, hehe. Possibly a Lavender Technium 480? I also have a Viscount Aerospace project I will never get around to. Frame is a 58, but I can trade it for a 60cm. I know someone with the same bike but in pieces.,,,,BD

I hereby nominate BD as Champ of COTD. I haven't seen anybody pick up nice bikes for cheap as consistently as him. Well maybe Bigbossman, but his are usually flippers, not as nice as BDs, and he hasn't been putting 'em up recently that I've noticed.

Arrangements for pickup have been made. New Years day I will go and pick the 520 up. Can't wait! He also let me know he has some more bicycle related things hanging around I might be interested in. Should be a fun trip.,,,,BD

Already talked with the lad. He's already onboard to do the repaint (no big deal in this case since there's no way what's on there now is the original one).
I WAS talking about the head badges...

edit: I missed the earlier shot so I ID'ed it wrong and now I see. It's an Overland and it's a nice bike.

Bikedued: Nice score. And you have broken the code of how to score on ebay. Local pickup or pickup of bikes that have ridiculously high shipping can make for some good scores. Its the only way I buy on ebay, and it also eliminates the shipping nightmares (damage).

This bike was acquired by a guy who's blog I've started reading (click the link to read the whole story of how he got the bike). It's a Schwinn Twin Deluxe five-speed.

Agreed...in fact, I'm eyeing something up on the bay that fits this description perfectly...local pickup and a really high shipping cost...we'll see if I can snag it later...

Don't know if you could call it a catch (paid too much, not rare, not vintage) but it is the frame size I wanted to do a commuter/touring/cross conversion. 90's specialized crossroads with altus c 10 7 speed components and Tange tubing. Some scratches here and there, a little surface rust, but it should turn out nice.

Give it the old LHT treatment, and it should look very nice. Brooks saddle, fenders, and moustache bars should have it looking sweet in no time!,,,,BD

Actually I got a heads up from Muttleyone on the day before the auction ended. I had to leave the house 35 minutes before the end of the auction, so I put in a max bid of $120 and hoped for the best. I came back a couple of hours later, and was shocked to learn I won it for $104!? I figured it would go over my
max bid easily. The only bad part is the drive a good hour or more each way. At least on New Years day, the traffic should be fairly low. Everyone will be nursing their hangovers, hehe.,,,,BD

Glad I could help throw a bone your way. I knew it would go for a song. Well my quest continues for a touring bike for myself. Hope some good karma comes my way and a sweet bike drops from heaven for me, lol.

I picked up this '85 Cannondale SR900 today. At $300 it was a little higher than I really wanted to spend, but I still think I made out ok. I purchased it for the nice campy parts mostly. It's aluminum which isnt really my thing, and it's too small for me.

More info on the bike here:

https://www.vintagecannondale.com/year/1985/1985.pdf

It's got,
campy sr rear der
campy headset - anyone know if its a 1" threaded? which model?
dura ace hubs
campy seat post
campy brakes - record? not sure
campy pedals - i think SR?
campy record or sr front der
record crank
i think thats a selle saddle? Turbo? Not sure
Cinelli stem and bars
Diacompe brake levers - not sure whats up with that.

Here's all the pics in addition to the ones below

Any help on any of those parts? How did I do?

Finally I got something good and cheap off craigslist, a 1974/75 Schwinn Speedster in great condition $25. I'm a happy man right now.

Here's mine. Actually, it came with a magnetic trainer...which was what I was really looking for....but looking at this bike (apparently a 1997 Giant Kronos GS), it's a weird mix of a very heavy steel frame (complete bike weighed in a 26lb as photo'd), entry-level circa early '90s components and (get this) factory grip shifters all with lots of add-ons like a newer seat, seat bag +various tools/spares, a couple bottle holders, a nice working computer, pump & holder, SPD pedals with knee savers....and even though they're now old & junk it had what were obviously good, pricey tires. Go figure. He had me at "trainer" with the whole package for $50.

Actually, what's kinda cool about it is the guy really used the heck out of the bike...not abused, just well loved & well used....not some piece that sat in a garage all it's life.

Whew, it's not going to be an hour or more each way. More like two hours? The 520 is 112.6 miles away. My wife only jumped on me for a while for buying yet another bike, then decided to go with me. Good thing gas is cheap right now.,,,,BD

A breakfast stop will be included in the trip, so it may take a bit longer than a couple of hours

2 hours to get there, plus breakfast time. 1 hour to get home with the bike.
