I overslept REALLY bad this morning, to the tune of an hour after they leave the meeting area for
the vintage bike ride. Sat around the house for a while, then said might as well go to the flea market?
Within 5 minutes of being there, I found this! I was pretty excited but hid it well. Great condition, and my size.
The decals flaked off, but I don't mind. It will look nice, and it doesn't affect the ride. I kind of hate the decals of this era anyway.,,,,BD

1984 LeTour, for $35....Greenville frame, 4130 DB tubing, and stays are also CrMo according to the sticker.
It already has a honey B.17 on it, and it looks awesome with the paint color! Thinking matching wrap, VO
lace on or something.

Update. It's all done except for a new chain(rusty) and wrap(maybe yellow with amber shellac?)

Late 80's (?) Specialized Allez

Bought this at a yard sale for ~$25. It had very few miles on it, but sat in a garage for 20+ years, Thanks to a friend who taught me how to restore it (by doing most of the work), it looks new & rides like a dream. If anybody can date this, please let me know - I think it's between 85 and 92.
I had to replace tires, chain, cables, pedals, tape, and put on my old Bontrager saddle.
As I found it:
Frame: Taiwan, "Direct Drive" CroMo
Components: Shimano RX100
Stem: "Specialized" stamped (Nitto?)
Bars: Sakae Modolo "Anatomic Bend"
Rims: Mavic

That Allez is on my list of bikes to own someday. I would though a 1in threadless carbon fork on it because I don't like the unicrown. Great catch for 25 bucks.

I'll guess early 90's, given the unicrown fork and RX-100 components. If the components are original, which they likely are, you can use date codes to pinpoint the year:

https://www.vintage-trek.com/component_dates.htm#shimano

This '93 looks close:

Ran across this early 70's Peugeot PX10 at a garage sale. Owner says it has been ridden 200 miles. Still has the nibs on the tires, but it has quite a few chips and scratches from storage. It looks like it will clean up OK.

Nice catch, it's a beauty. Look how low the seat tube decal panel is placed! Darn French!

I have an Allez just like that. I robbed the running gear to build a 47cm Faggin for my 11 year old son, but the Allez is a **nice** ride for sure. Very light, very nice construction.....very secretive steel material apparently, though...just some in-house Specialized branding is tagged. Mine is a 58cm and I was planning on selling the frame/fork since it's a bit too far on the large end of the size spectrum I ride. For $25 and for the bike to come out looking like that, I bow to you! Enjoy it! Oh...I'd put $25 on it being the same year as mine - '93...RSX100 components, 2x7, etc....oh yeah, I forgot the PO of mine had upgraded to RSX (7speed) STIs...but yeah, the same bike. Nice catch!

Once when I was digging around in some old stuff at Trek I found a pair of waxes for those dropouts, except they said "Trek" where the standard ones say "Huret." Apparently Trek had considered using them on their bikes at some point, but nothing came of it.

Yard sale, huh... so what did it set you back?
I am starting a home for PX-10's... they do much better in packs rather than individually. So I am willing to take this one in.
It looks like a 70' or 71' to me.
Can you send a detail of the racks on the bike? Would love to see so I can decide if I want them on mine.
Nice find.

Nice find.
Here is the detail on the rack:

They hook under the brake and hook near the main bolt, then there are supporting brackets which are attached at the pivots. I've never seen any racks like this before. I'm thinking of getting them re-chromed. Anyone have a recommended shop I could send them too?

As for running in packs, it has been adopted by my Fat Chance and Felt and they would be so disappointed to have their new sibling leave.

I looked for a serial number but could not find one. I'm thinking it is probably in that range though from the decals and stem. The wheels are Rigida clincher rims on Atom hubs (with Simplex and Campy skewers) so I think they were swapped out around the time of purchase. Everything else seems original though, even the black vinyl bar tape...

I was driving down a side-street on a Saturday morning and spotted this bike in front of a house, FREE sign and all. The home-owners even came out to help me put it in my car!

Please pardon the cellphone pics. My digicam's batteries are dead.

I took some time to clean it up, rebuilt the hubs/headset/bb, replaced brake cables and pads, put some air in the tires, and some oil in the hub. Good as new. It's a 1974, rides & shifts like a dream. I'm really pleased with it

Thanks for looking!

yellowjeep- yup- found in a pile of trash after the semester was over. Frame was straight in all planes, dropouts aligned, etc. fork was tweaked, front rim was tacoed. The rest of the parts were Nervar, huret, Atom, etc. All french thread. That was good swap meet fodder. I still have the Nervar crank- I can't bear to part with it.

Mkeller- the Fuji was built up for a good friend and it's her daily commuter. She gets stopped at least 3-4 times a week to be asked about her fenders, mudflaps, rack, seat, etc.
I am assured they are referencing her bicycle.

Talk about great word of mouth advertising. The hammered fenders look great but the zepplin fenders are my favorites. Has Velo-Orange ever thought about reproducing the plastic bluemels fenders? I'm guessing it's not really your thing being English and not French? Or perhaps plastic fenders are a bit of a turn off to most people?

Our alloy fenders are not much more than a set of plastic ones. We definitely don't want to go down the road of different colored fenders in any material. It's a SKU nightmare. I don't see the need for yet another brand of polycarbonate/abs/plastic/thermoset composite fenders on the market with Planet Bike, SKS, Bluemels (they are still an active brand that SKS uses for their lower end product), Headland, Zefal, and all the house brands of Trek, Raleigh, Specialized, QBP, J&B, etc. all competing for the same sales.

There may be room for a Velo Orange 'plastique' series, but priced where? Unique in what way?

Just getting around to posting my seventh pick up from last week, a 1985 Peugeot P8 (I think). It is a nice pearl white. The bike is straight, but extremely dirty. It doesn't show up in the pic, but I will be cleaning this one for a while.
