A few pics of the stable

I thought I'd post a few pics now that I got the camera working instead of using my phone. First pic is my baby that I got about month ago just got her cleaned up and new tape on the bars. I'm just waiting on the white Rolls saddle to show up and she'll be complete.
Well here she is, '88 Schwinn Paramount Team Wheaties. This was team leader Volker Diehl's bike with full Dura Ace 7400. It doesn't have a serial number on but his last name stamped onto the bottom bracket, also has his nickname painted on the non-drive chain stay.

Next up is one I got last week. A mid '70's Campania Professional. I got it for touring and I haven't made up my mind about it yet. I think I paid too much for it. I'm still looking for a Miyata 1000/610 or a Univega Specializma<sp>/ Gran Tourer.

Next is a bike I bought new and my first real road bike. An '88 Schwinn Prelude with Columbus Tenax tubing. I love the '80's colors. I feel like I should be wearing a white linen suit with a pastel t-shirt. Well I think she has to go, too many bikes and I don't ride her much anymore so she has to go.

Next is my yard sale find. An 1980 Fuji Royale that I got for $20. She is on the list to cleaned up and then sale. She is in great shape except for a little surface rust on the chrome and brakes.

Last is not C/V but a bike none the less. '08 Gary Fisher 29'er X-Cal. I bought this and found out I'm not a mountain biker so she is going also.
http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i2...DSCF0021_2.jpg yes I know the front tire is flat, lol

Thanks for taking a look at my bikes.

That Wheatie's Paramount is one good looking bike. Nice pick up.

BTW, don't do an image search of Volker Diehl on the Google with your kids around.

Muttleyone,

All your bikes, but especially the Team Wheaties Paramount, look fantastic! Here's a link to even more info on the Wheaties bikes. I'm not certain who put this together, but they did a nice job.

A very nice, expansive collection indeed. Thanks for the tour!

Happy Trails!

Thanks Bob, Yeah I've talked to the guy who has that site. In fact my bike is on there but I have to send him new photos since I've done some work on it. BTW the way I haven't forgotten about you but you know with Christmas just around the corner, but I'll try to get that to you as soon as I can.

Thanks Panther, but there is something of an Italian flavor missing. One day I'll have to fix that.

No worries whatsoever! :)

I own the same-year mountain bike counterpart of your TW Paramount, but mine is red, white, and blue, instead of blue, white, and red. :)

I remember the Pro and other bikes in the Campania line from my undergrad days, when I worked in a small bike shop and a competitor down the street introduced Campania to the neighborhood.

Thanks for the blast from the past.

I've seen the Wheaties MTB in pics. I've thought it would be could to own one to have a matching pair.

That's my buddy Lew! He's a really cool gentleman. He has some admittedly odd ideas (for example he hates centerpulls and loves turkeywings) that have occasionally landed him in the "Numbskull" thread, but I don't let the haters get me down. If that bike is the one I think it is I had the opportunity to buy it out from under him but I was so disgusted by the seller even suggesting such a thing that I said "no thanks" and hung up on him. I've been burned by unscrupulous craigslist sellers too many times.

Muttleyone 12-04-08 07:32 PM

Yeah I'm sure it's the same bike. I didn't know it at the time but Lew was biding on it also. He seems like a nice guy.

Tell me about your Campania. I have one and I am trying to figure out what to do with it. Mine has 1st generation Dura Ace, double-butted paint over chrome tubes, and pealing yellow paint. I can no longer tell the model.

I don't know a whole lot about them. Some have said they are made in Japan. Others have said they were put together in SoCal/Long Beach. Not sure about the models other then I've been told that the Professional was the top of their line. I haven't heard great things about the line from others but it's a good bike not great but good. It serves while as a tourer and I think it looks good with the chrome lugs and paint over chrome frame. Since yours is a paint over chrome frame it may be a Professional but I'm not too sure about their other models. Sorry I'm not more help then that.
