Some Days it All Comes Together...
 

It was a gorgeous day in San Francisco today. The sky was blue, the visibility was incredible, and the temperature was bumping 60° F. I rode the Waterford to the top of Dolores Park and took a nearly perfect picture.

I'm curious, can you put fenders on the Waterford as well as a rack? Seems like you could use them in SF.

Yes; the 40mm Gilles Berthoud stainless fenders are a perfect fit, and there's even generous clearance for the Record Carbon sidepulls. Waterford delivered the bike without eyelets on the fork even though I had ordered them and the factory's build sheet calls for them, but everything else was so perfect I didn't want to return the fork just because there weren't eyelets. I'll use Adel clamps to attach the fender stays to the fork.

Here are the 40mm Berthoud fenders mounted on the P15 (which does have eyelets on the fork).

I went on an early morning ride this morning up to Balboa Park. All was going fine until I got a nail in my brand new (< 90 mile) Pasela on the chrome Paramount. It messed up the sidewall, too, and I finally got to try out my Park Tool emergency tire boot after carrying it around for about 5 years. It got me back to my truck with no further issues. :D

A new tire has been ordered.....

RK, I just hate it when when I pick up a nail. What are nails doing in the roadway anyway? :mad:

Ah, roger that - and it usually comes with temperatures that make your fingers and toes turn blue and fall off. It is often optimistically referred to as a 'vigorous four season climate' or some nonsense like that...

Hey Scooper! What a great photo! I was across the bay in El Cerrito and saw the other sides of those buildings from very far away. It was great seeing you at the bike swap at the Cow Palace last weekend. Bigbossman and BlankCrows said you crossed their paths somewhere there while I was selling all of their stuff so I'm glad you met up with them. It was good to unload a lot of the surplus. Enjoy the balmy December weather while it lasts!

Bill, the Painted Ladies are on Alamo Square and the picture was taken from the south end of Dolores Park. They're about a mile apart, but the view of the downtown skyline is similar from both locations.

I had a great time at Cow Palace. BlankCrows had sent me a PM that he and BBM would both be there so I was looking forward to seeing them. I picked up a really nice alloy 27.2 seat post for $7.00 that I put on the Waterford. I've been paranoid about overtightening the seatpost binder bolt and cracking the CF Campy seatpost, so I swapped them this week and now the Campy post is in a drawer swaddled in bubblewrap. :)

We used to ride down the three grassy hills in that park in the morning on foot brake bikes and throw on the brakes at the bottom. The morning dew would make for great skids all the way to the fence. When we got three speed bikes, we used to ride down church street hill for the thrill of that ride. I put road bars on that bike and use to fly. Once, I got caught in the street car tracks, an event seared in my brain forever. That spot where you took the picture is one of my favorites. I ride there occasionally to remember the fun times we had in that park as kids in the fifties. Baseball ruled that diamond at the bottom of those three grassy hills in the summer. San Francisco is home and a bike riding paradise. Funny, I never rode up hills as a kid but I do now. :roflmao2:

Way to rub it in guys. We got up to 35 today. The "thrill" of my day was slamming my brakes and letting ABS save my bacon when driving down a hill shortly after it started snowing.

We had a good day on our side of the bay, too. About 65 degrees, and a clear day all the way up Mt. Hamilton and back.

I am sitting here debating a morning ride-about 60 degrees and a 30% chance of rain. I don't like wet Paramounts.

I guess I woke up too early. We took a ride up to Vallejo and rode in fog the whole way. Nice bike Scooper.

i can agree with many in this thread . your weather is absolutly beautiful . we have had maybe 2 days like on bigbossmans pic , say in the last 9 weeks. We have 2 seasons here in Sweden . the green winter & the white winter , take your pick .

riding here year round is a challenge .or even during the summer it can be totalcrap = the green winter . storms , rain for weeks on end , sun for 5 minutes .OOpps there i go again . maybe its time to move to Malta !
