BSA Waverley
hi there,
does anyone have any inf' on this bike ? I've hosted the images at a new flickr address - http://www.flickr.com/photos/flux_hosting/ but hopefully, here's some pics here . . http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3247/...e049a79c_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3134/...d4d3c852_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3277/...f72fa270_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3103/...f8d418b9_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3230/...1aee4109_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3203/...f5ca4354_m.jpg you get the idea ! |
There should be a date code on the rear axle allowing a pretty accurate date of manufacture for the bike. I would say from the ammount of BSA logo'd parts that you bike is pre 1957 when Raleigh took them over, I would have thought that a bike of that vintage would also have a BSA chainring perhaps that has been changed out at sometime in the past, the gear change lever with the little indicator window is also a period feature.... A lovely bike.

thanks 385xza,
its from between '53-'56, judging by the SA gears . . but you're right about the chainring, though i have seen those style ones before, i might try and find an original BSA set. Re the serial number, it was on the top of the seat tube, to the side: N42759, can't find how to date from that though. thanks again for your help - i've got it working, and is great fun to ride. |
