Picked up this Cheeto bike.It was a prize offered buy the Cheete Lay company many years ago.250 of these were made.it has Cheeto decals and a carry bag for a"gas tank".I found it in a shed in Indiana where the owner was a relative of a Cheeto executive who got it from a warehouse while at a Cheeto convention.I guess only 249 were given as prizes.Sounds like cooperate corruption.
It is terrible to ride and you must keep a very firm grip or it will throw you off.I wonder how many "prize winners" were injured by this beast.
Just thought i would post it as somethig stupid. Not a classic.

Yup, "Cheese that goes crunch!" sounds just about right!

sonatageek 12-10-08 08:50 AM

The definition of a bike that is a 'looker', 'cause you sure don't want to ride it.

cb400bill 12-10-08 08:54 AM

Can you post a close up of the front brake/wheels?

pastorbobnlnh 12-10-08 08:54 AM

Amazing! Quadruple Dork Disks and a chaingaurd that seemingly never ends! Thanks for sharing the pics! Visit RatRodbikes.com. They would love to see this ride.

I'd ride that in our local Sunday fast rides in a full kit.

USAZorro 12-10-08 09:31 AM

Wow. The head tube angle is offensive.

I'd sell it. :D

wrk101 12-10-08 09:34 AM

If this was first prize, second prize must have been two of them. Ouch!

I love the pie plates on the front wheel. Why didn't I think of that? More pie, please!

the front brakes are standard with clearance holes cut in the metal fenders.the "motor holds two water bottles and the chainguard is the "exhaust pipe.' I was suprised that fenders are metal and not plastic.

I love it, I had an African Grey Parrot named Cheeto, he died last March of Cancer, but he got his name because his favorite food was cheetos, oh and pizza but cheeto made a better name.

Just my thoughts but that bike is just fun, not practicle but playful and fun and goofy and probably going to be worth some money to the right collector.

mishmashmusic 12-10-08 12:49 PM

I would think if it were a proper "Cheeto" it would have orange paint that would get all over your hands when you ride it ;)

rotharpunc 12-10-08 01:17 PM

rhm 12-10-08 01:41 PM

ozneddy 12-10-08 03:43 PM

bmaxwell 12-10-08 08:01 PM

Here's what I know and it's straight from Cheetos Headquarters in Texas. Crayola Crayon and Cheetos teamed up for the Color My World promotion. They order 1500 bikes from a company in Taiwan. After this company started building them they figured out that they wasn't going to get rich and stoped building at 1000 bikes. They shipped the bikes and durring the trip over the ship they were on was caught in a bad storm and the entire load on board the ship shifter, crushing the load of bikes. Cheetos sent a insurence adjuster out by helicopter and they wrote off about 650 bikes as being damaged. Then the crew of the ship was order to throw the damaged bikes overboard. The remaining bikes made it to the warehouse in the USA. About 150(approx.) bikes were taken home by Cheetoes big shots or given to thier buddys. The remaining 200(approx.) were put on display in stores thru out the US then given away as 1st prize in the Crayola Crayon/Cheetos Color My World Contest. It's also listed in a book called "The Evolution Of The Bicycle 2"

bmaxwell 02-18-09 02:37 PM

now that is some good trivia, I wonder where the information came from. Too bad all those bikes were thrown overboard what a way to ruin an ecosystem.
