Interest in kids vintage road bike?

I picked one up from neglect a while back. It's a nice Columbia Apace. I want to fix it up I just don't have the time or resources. I want someone who can use it to have it. Any ideas? The only item I am going to remove from it is the front derailur. I have managed to get the freewheel free again, I have lubed up(but just to check function.. needs to be cleaned better) the crank and front wheel. I managed to get the chain unfrozen.. but I was going to replace it just from years of being outside. The rear derailur works and the shifters work. Needs tires, rear does pump up and hold air.

So here is my question.. How do I get it to the right person? Would anyone here be able to use it? I am not asking $$ for it, I just want to see it used/enjoyed.

Thanks!

Let me know if you want pics!

(The blue one)

do you think it would be too big for an average sized 10yr old girl? My daughter has always loved my "blue" bike & wants one just like that! I would pay to ship of course
what size are the wheels? 24"?

i have a feeling it may be a bit large for her tho.

Donate it to the thrift store of your choice, or if there is a bike co-op, to them. Kid's bikes generally have little value, and Columbia was pretty low end. But a good thrift store can turn it into profit, putting people to work and furthering their mission. So just find a thrift store that supports causes you agree with. I donate any/all kids bikes I come across.

There used to be a guy here that took old bikes and fixed them for kids etc.. but I couldn't find him?

cool! I'll hafta check if she can stand over that top tube. 26.5" seems a bit tall for her, but I'll check to be sure. I'll let you know by tomorrow evening (the next time I'll have internet access)
Otherwise, I hope you find a worthy cause!

& thanks!

Let me know what size a kid this would fit, There is a peugeot im looking to pick up that is an 18 inch frame with 24" wheels. It's in great shape but I'm not sure who i could give it to that it would fit.

For comparison the '74 catalog said this size frame was for 7-10 year olds but that seems a little big to me.

I think the gent who takes bikes to rehab for kids is on the pay it forward thread. Since you're not asking for money I think it would qualify for posting in that thread. I just bought a Fuji Junior and it is similar size to the bike you have, it barely fits my average size 13 year old nephew(though the thing looks so tiny in my eyes) if that helps narrow down the age range. I'm making him the worlds smallest bike hipster single speed!
