Is this 1'st or 2nd gen C-record
 

I remember a pretty recent thread with a similar question but cant seem to find it. I found a pretty good stash of campy parts, (including a NOS nuovo record rear wheel) and this derailleur was thrown in for free as parts...

I checked velobase, which rocks, but this seems like a hybrid between 1'st and 2nd gen C-record? The chain guide is not fully enclosed but it has the engraved shield face. Any ideas? Also the schematic would be fairly helpful if anyone has it? It's missing the hanger bolt and pulleys and id like to know if there are any other small parts i should be searching for...

Also what was the consensus on brakes like the ones in the pic? Im thinking Athena? Has white barrel adjuster and nice semi enclosed spring retainer. Super nice but conveniently missing a front bolt and washer.

The RD is a transition generation derailer - first-gen parallelogram with the 90 degree corners and engraved logo, with second-gen pulley cage (open slot). One could argue that this is truly the official second-generation, while the version with the Campagnolo script logo is third-generation.

That is not taking into account the fact that the parallelogram top stop was revised during the run of the first-gen RD's - would that make the second variant it's own generation? Not in my book, but I may be wrong.

Confusing enough? :o

That said, could you post a photo of the reverse of the RD? I want to make sure it is not, by any chance, a first-gen with the earlier sprung pivot that just so happens to have a second-gen cage on it. Makes all the difference in the world as to what part(s) you need to get it back together.

Unfortunately this is the only part that was C-record. Everything else was nuovo record but still a good find.
That thread does help with the brakes but is still quite confusing!

Genuine mid-generation example with the allen screw as a makeshift "B-adjustment screw" as Sheldon would call it. All you need are pulleys and the top pivot; you'll be good to go with those.
