Ride it, or keep it mint?

I entered the sweepstakes to win the custom Paramount at bicycling.com/paramount

But if I win it ... should a one-of-a-kind commemorative bike like this be ridden, or kept mint?

Pay it forward? :)

I got a deal for you.

You win it.

Pay it forward to me.

I ride it.

BTW 56cm frame please.

embankmentlb 12-19-08 06:10 AM

Ride it! Looks like the same frame made for Fuji & Kona.

sonatageek 12-19-08 07:20 AM

I would ride it, but keep the paper work in a safe place. I would also try to me more careful with it than my daily rider mountain bike conversion.

Not so much.

MKahrl 12-19-08 08:12 AM

Ridden. But first I would replace that fork with something nice in proper steel from Waterford.

triplebutted 12-19-08 08:24 AM

Ride it like you stole it!

foamy 12-19-08 08:37 AM

Ride. Absolutely.

steppinthefunk 12-19-08 08:57 AM

not only would I ride it, I would also change out the fork, bars and stem and strip the stickers off of the wheels.
I'd probably put a Wound Up carbon fork on there. I've always wanted one of those.

trelhak 12-19-08 08:59 AM

Ride it, of course. Let's be honest, it's just a Schwinn. It's not like it's the very first frame Ugo De Rosa built or some other museum piece.

If you don't ride it, it's just a paperweight.

bhalvorsen 12-19-08 09:00 AM

RIDE, it's not a bike if you turn it into a garage queen.

brandenjs 12-19-08 09:03 AM

I'd ride the heck out of it..Imagine showing up at the local group rides or even an organized Century with that beautiful bike. I think you would get more looks and comments than a $12,000 Parlee....That's not one to just sit in the house and look at...

trelhak 12-19-08 09:08 AM

^ You might not get as many looks and comments as a $12K Parlee, but I guarantee you that the looks and comments you do get won't be looks of derision and comments regarding a fool, his money, and the rapidity with which their paths diverge. :)

Little Darwin 12-19-08 09:17 AM

They say "custom fit" Would that mean putting stuff on it I would put on it?

It looks like a nice frame, but they sure do put ugly components on it. ;)

I don't know. If I thought you paid the $7000 list price I may think those things (do I have the right Bike here?). If I knew you won it I'd be good on ya.

LOL..+1 on the derision and the fool and his money...

Yea..That crank does'nt seem to fit the bike...

luker 12-19-08 12:48 PM

nah. don't ride it. As a matter of fact, you need two.

Glue 'em down to nice, flat stands and use 'em for really, really big bookends. Or maybe pose one on each side of your entryway, like people do with those big marble lions.

Looking at the sweepstakes, I don't think that you win anything but the frame/fork, so you should feel free to fit it with any crank you like*.

*It'd look really gooooood with a C Record Group, btw.

USAZorro 12-19-08 01:25 PM

Sell it unused. You'd have a great leg up on a Confente or a Rene Herse.

:roflmao2: I think you are right, and to order one (frame/fork or complete bike)seems like a real pain. It would be nice to have as part of the collection..I'll take mine with downtube friction please...:D
