What's the difference?

What's the difference between these two Shimano 600 rear derailleurs?

the bottom is a 600EX arabesque, it is a different series of 600, and the prettiest derailleur ever IMHO

Where would I find a pivot bolt, a set of wheels and the plastic piece that the 2 screws hold on?

Jockey wheels can be found at your local dealer. The generic $4.99's work well. The plastic piece...from another derailleur as well as the upper bolt.

+1 That was one pretty group, worthy of the Q-tip treatment.

See if you can find a local LBS with a junk box. The non-arabesque RD is fairly common. Contact Otto Rax on this forum, he can check 1304bikes (a co-op) for you, and if he has one, he'll get it to me and I'll mail it to you.

If I had one, I'd send it, but I do not. The pivot bolt will be easier to find than the plastic piece, and I'll bet the plastic piece can be duplicated, as it's more of a shield, I think, than an integral part of the in/out stops.

Think outside the box on that piece, and maybe you can drill out a piece of something else.

Good luck, and I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I think that plastic piece is there to stop the screws from vibrating themselves out of adjustment. A lot of deraillers use a spring to put a little tension on the screw so it stays put. Locknuts would work to but they'd be fussy.
Try steeling one of those little bitty rubber bands that your sister uses on her braces or something like that.
