And it's mine, mine, all mine . . . .

I need another bike like I need a hole in the head, but there are some things, like a Dave Moulton Fuso in my size, that are simply too cool to pass up. So I didn't.

Not the best pics in the world, but I've seen similar beasties in the flesh (puuuuuuurrrrrty), and I've never heard anything but raves about how they ride. Besides, bigbossman was telling me to jump on it, so what could I do? :D

I'll post more pics when it arrives.

rotharpunc 12-31-08 04:09 PM

feel free to go ahead and keep it, its far too large for me anyhow :p

how well do those brakes work?

USAZorro 12-31-08 04:09 PM

Looks like you did well. The brake calipers, shifters and derailleurs alone are worth about what you paid.

I'll let you know how the brakes work when the bike arrives and I can try them out - carefully.:D

And thanks for the go-ahead to keep it. :thumb:

Thanks. I'm not sure whether to keep it as-is or convert to a triple (and if so, whether to keep it as an 8-speed or switch to 10-speed). In any event, it will remain a Campy bike, and it will be a rider.

poprad 12-31-08 06:22 PM

Wow, nice find! You better post some good detail shots when you get it. If you decide to convert I'll happily buy those cranks from you for my Chesini build.

Turtle Jack 12-31-08 06:29 PM

Nice bike, but you know you can't ride white after Labor Day, right?

:p

(just kidding, I am jealous!)

bigbossman 12-31-08 06:55 PM

I can't believe you bought that pile, when you could have bought a nice modern bike for the same price.

:innocent:

Hey - don't I get any love for "helping" you on deciding whether to buy it or not? Between you and Blankcrows, I'm 2 for 2 on enabling this month. My work here is done. :D Oh, wait..... strip it and rebuild with Campy 10 speed and a triple.

There, now my work is done!

Old Fat Guy 12-31-08 07:02 PM

You listened to BBM?!?

Best of luck anyways.

Just kidding. I've never heard anything bad about them, actually only raves, and when BBM gets you to convert to a modern drive train, you can recoup the cost by selling the C- Record.

A new carbon Centaur grouppo is around $725 at comobikes, you could get that much for the C-Record grouppo and then some, counting the wheels. I think the carbon would look nice on the white bike.

What are the Ergo's that are on it?

PS--Lose the stem/handlebar combo.

metalchef87 12-31-08 07:06 PM

Damn...1300 dollars...good find tho

gridplan 12-31-08 07:19 PM

So that's where that went. I thought seriously of buying that bike. Its parts were going to go on my '91 Somec (I kid you not).

Spinz 12-31-08 07:42 PM

Great bike and you lucky devil. Lp

Normally I find the best policy is to ignore 90% of what bigbossman says ;), but this time it looks like he has steered you right. That is a nice looking bike. Well done!

BBM, it seems almost every time I talk to you lately I end up spending hundreds. First, that pile of parts at the swap meet and then the nice NOS Italian frame last week. I'm hunting for more stuff now, and I don't think I have the nerve to put Veloce on that thing. "Enabler" is to put it mildly. I know, I know, you're gonna say someone has to keep the economy going...... :)

Nice Fuso bikingshearer! I'm looking forward to seeing it this coming year on some rides.

Old Fat Guy 12-31-08 08:33 PM

FWIW, I've gotten BBM to buy a few frames he didn't 'need'.

Now if I could only make a buck off him one of these times!

I hate it when you're right. ;)

I'm leaning to converting it to 10-speed. Not sure I can bring myself to do carbon parts, though - strictly personal bias. But I suspect I could recoup most, if not all, of the cost.

As for the Ergo's, I don't know - didn't think to ask.

Bar/stem - I share your thoughts, although I'll see how they look and ride before making a final call. If I still want to change 'em, odds are I'd go with the Nitto Technomic/Noodle bar combo I have on the other bikes and like, both in terms of looks and function.

We may be able to work something out . . . .

Thanks - it should be a fun bike. As for listening to BBM, you should know from the Hamilton ride gthagt I'm yakking so much myself that I don't even hear 90% of what he says. :p

"Enabler." That pretty well describes BBM. And I'm looking forward to getting out on it.

And yes, I'll be sure to do the "bike porn" thing as soon as I can.

bmaxwell 12-31-08 09:58 PM

I know you could trim it down and cut off the brazons and put a single speed on it and call yourself a hippster.... or DREW as the case may be... really nice bike and whatever you do don't start cutting things off.

It's my job, that's what I do.

I officially propose that you build your Fuso, I build my Dancelli, and Blankcrows builds...... err... we build his Chesini :D and then take all three on a "three virgins" inaugural ride.

That should be fun.
