I've got a couple of Colins frames that I'm about to move along to new owners, but thought since this seems to be one of the best collections of his work in one place that I should add them here before putting them up for sale.

The first one I'd expect is one of the more rare frames he's done. This was built as a 50th anniversary Golden Jubilee, sometime in 2001 or 2002 for a local pro rider here in Az. The aesthetic was similar to his comp model at the time, but the Comp was built with Columbus brain and this anniversary is built using one of the best tube sets ever, Columbus Max. You can see the opposing elliptical shapes of the different ends of the tubes which made for an amazingly stiff ride.

The other I have no recollection of when I acquired this, it must have been around 2004, but I know it was built some years prior. It's a super cool kids bike. 38cm frame made for 20" wheels. This was a first road bike for both of my kids and then went onto the wall when they out grew it.

Hello,
I purchased this Colian yesterday. It does not appear to have a serial number. Should it be on the bottom bracket shell? Approximately, when was it made? Based upon the 126 mm rear spacing and the Columbus SLX decal, I am guessing 1984-1989. I think that my frame is the one that belonged to Rodion R post #38 in this thread.
I also have a Colin Laing tandem.
Thanks,
Chris

take a very close picture of the bottom bracket underneath. It should have a frame number if made during this time. It would have been March 1985 to 1988.
Also is their a painted name on the top tube?

cheers
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I can not see a number without removing paint. There is no name on the top tube. I'm considering removing the paint under the bb shell.
Thanks,
Chris

Before you remove the paint, take a photo of the underneath of the BB. Also, if you can measure the frame size center of BB to top of seat tube and post that. I can look in the "Book" to see approx size and tubing.
