Classic Sting-Rays coming back -- Grey Ghost

Was looking at the Schwinn Sting-Ray site ( https://www.schwinnstingray.com ) to check out their new Sting-Ray and noticed a news blurb about the reissue of classic Sting-Rays. I checked out the press release and they'll be offering two models of the classic Schwinn Sting-Ray in extremely limited runs: the Coppertone Sting-Ray and the Grey Ghost. The release says they'll be availabe from independent Schwinn dealers in June.

I was at a vintage bike swap meet saturday, and most of the bikes that they had there were Stingrays. Those are some nice bikes, I must admit!!

You're not going to set any speed records on one, but they sure do make great conversation starters on the local rail trail.

Bikes: Sun EZ3 USX, 04 Schwinn Stingray, old Stingray lowrider, couple of kid's bikes.

Here's my Stungray:

Not a real Stingray, but I dig it for cruising with my kids around the block.

Ahh, what memories. My first bike was a Sting-Ray Deluxe in lemon yellow. I must have gone through at least 5 rear tires on it, skidding around corners with the coaster brake. Still wish I had it...

When I was 10, I bought a new '65 Deluxe and found out in short order the cost of being stylish. My buddies all had Schwinn Racers and I got mighty tired of having to pedal my fanny off trying to keep up. Not completely able to admit I choose a crap bike (from a practical standpoint), I traded the Deluxe for a 5-speed Ramhorn Fastback in '67. A little better, but not much. And my erstwhile pals reveled in hanging the damned thing from trees by the ramhorn bars.
