Can the chrome cage be removed from the Nuovo Record front derailleur?
Can the chrome cage be removed from the Nuovo Record front derailleur? On one side, I can see it is attached by a bolt. The other side seems to be the problem. How is that side attached?
Thanks

The cage can be removed.
The bolt holds on the lower arm and spring.
The upper arm has a pin holding it out. The pin must be driven out with a hammer and punch. You may be able to reuse the pin but i used a length of fender stay and it worked better as it was nice and new and I could size it perfectly.

curious why you want to do this. I have a campy front derailleur where the chrome is half gone because it was defective. I figure it's not worth replacing unless someone knows a supply of the cages.

I have a bunch of small parts that I am going to have rechromed. I thought I might just throw the cage in as well, if it is easy to remove and refit. It doesn't seem so easy, however.
