Phillips decal
I'm hoping that someone would be so kind as to send me a photo of the decal on the rear mudguard of a 1960's era Phillips English 3-speed.

same as the headtube and seat tube

this is the best shot I have of the rear fender.
http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/IMG_2525.jpg it's the same sticker as this http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/IMG_2509.jpg and the same image as this http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...n/IMG_2503.jpg the headbadge says birmingham (original phillips locale) the stickers say Nottingham (raleigh land) these bikes were '61s so they had a mis-match |
This badge was on the rear fender of a 1959 Phillips 3-speed. That's before Raleigh took over the company:

And here's my version on a Christmas holiday restoration, a 1955 Phillips ladys sports tourer.
The mudguard/fender is shaped to accept the badge. http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...Outside009.jpg Bit faded, indistinct perhaps and not overpainted, but the genuine article. More pics of the bicycle here: http://flickr.com/photos/bikesruz Scroll down a bit on the page to bypass the other mesmerising English lightweights....:thumb: |
Thanks to all that sent photos. This helps a lot.
