Attachment 94458I've finally got it together to send my old (1969) Frejus off for repainting. I'm attaching "before" pictures of the frame. The dark green color is not original. It has had several amateur repaints over the years. George S |
OK , the curiosity is killing me , WOT COLOR ARE U PAINTING IT ?

Doesn't look as if it needs a repaint. Chrome looks pretty bad on the headlug though - I gather you are having proper rechroming done, correct?

Frejus Repaint
I'm trying to get something close to the original color which was a pearlescent yellow/chartreuse (my wife called it "puke-green") that was unique to Frejus/Legnano. Joe Bell at JB Paint says he knows the color and can do it.
About the chrome. Lot of guilt here. I just can't do it. The way I read the price list, it would add about $1000 to the cost of refinishing to rechrome the fork crown, dropouts, head lugs and the chainstays. The fact that I'm doing this at all demonstrates that I'm not the most frugal of people, but I do have a marriage to hang on to and I'm pushing the limit. GeorgeS |
I think Nick at Lloyds has the decals, if you need.

If I may say so, I'd leave the frameset exactly as it is, after polishing the hell out of the chrome and the paint to make it shine in its nice original condition. If a minty machine is your goal, you'd probably be better off saving up your money and purchasing an excellent all-original or previously restored frameset - possibly sell this one off to make up for the extra cost too. -Kurt |
