They must be kitten killers

The OP was very well meaning. I can't believe the responses though. Kitten killers all of them: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=509953

Not all. Many posters have the OP's back.

today's stuff could be tomorrow's treasure

Nice conversion. No kittens were killed.

I agree with carleton:

"People, do what you want. Don't let the internet tell you what to do with a bike that you bought with your hard earned money that you work on with your valuable time."

Those weren't the ones I was refering to. It's the ones who seem to enjoy destroying a beautiful bike almost out of spite. I have no problems with SS conversions. IMO, just try not to alter the frame too much.

I think you are completely off. Most of the posts were quite positive. The others were understandable responses to preaching. Did you ever get tired of your mother nagging you? Did it have a positive effect on you?

You guys have made great progress educating others about C&V bikes. So, back off a little.

And, frankly, I could really care less if a bunch of low end Schwinn Varsities get cut and chopped.

I've just gotten back into biking in the past year and I have 2 questions.
What is the fascination with making track bike wannabe's?
And.
I had things brazed on to my bike frame. Does that make me anti-drew?

I braze useful things on too - so my new maxim is "Drew hacks 'em off - bad" "Stu sticks 'em on -good"

So is "Stu" the opposite of "Drew"?

(I hope so anyway!)

Now you guys are showing a sense of humor. Well done.

So if the logic follows:
You add stuff to your frame, you save a kitten. If you save a kitten, you make peta happy. If peta is happy, their tree hugger friends are happy. If the tree huggers are happy, more trees are planted. If there are more trees, there is more oxygen. If there is more oxygen, we can ride faster.
Braze people, Braze!

For all the *****ing here about hacking up nice vintage frames, I really have never seen it happen. I'm talking about high end stuff like Colnago, Masi (real ones), Cinelli, De Rosa, Paramounts, etc. I think it's a urban myth.
