Schwinn Paramount or Para not?
Recently I purchased what I think is a schwinn paramount Chrome track P-14. I has campy fixins, cinelli handlebars, and red accents around the lugz. The chrome is clean and very little dents. The probllem that I am having is that there are no paramount or schwinn marking. There is a number near the seat post 75d2465. According to Schwinn Lightweight Data Book the location and numbers do not make sense. By the way I paid $100. The bike was sitting in my churches basement for a few years.

Now flash forward some 8 years, and kappadave starts a thread on BF-C&V, and shazam! I remember, I left behind a chrome paramount track bike in the basement of my last church! Dang! I knew I forgot something! :notamused: Thank you Dave for finding my old Paramount. ;):D;) I'll be glad to return your investment plus a nice reward for finding my old bike! Just let me know where I can reach you? Oh dang! I just recalled, my last church didn't have a basement!!!!! |

By the look of the lugs, this is not a Paramount. But you certainly did find a bargain!

Well, it is very pretty. Thanks for posting the photos.
Are there any identifying markings on the crankset or the headset? |
Nada... At the bottom of the crank it's stamped 23.
|
The crankset should help to date the bike. Your chainring is a 144bcd. The older Pista/Track cranksets had 151bcd sized chainrings. I'm not certain when Campagnolo made this change, but sometime in the '70s or early '80s.

Could it be an Atala? They had a chrome track bike in the 70's. The treatment of the rear drops made me think of Atala. Cool bike, should be a blast to ride.

Pretty. Nice find.
Is that a serial number at the top of the seat tube? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3388/...d1819f.jpg?v=0 |
Looks like an Italian frame to me. What is the BB threading?
I would take some steel wool to that lug striping and redo properly. Otherwise a very cool find. |
