1985? super sport
i have a 85 ? super sport all black says made in japan and butt connected joints decal
i bot it new in around 85 /86 where is the id number?
also i just added new plastic shoes clips that are longer, now my toes hit the front wheel when i turn
just a little
the orig. clips were to short, maybe i have too small a frame for my 11.5 shoe size
i forgot the frame size, besides a measurement is the size stamped on it
i also has a 1971 ss but to me was just a step aboue the varsaity level

All black sounds like an '83:

The '84 was grey or pearl white, the '85 was pearl white and the '86 was red with black rear stays.
The serial number should be on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell, the left rear dropout or on the bottom of the headtube in the lug. There should also be a light, four-digit stamping in the headbadge. The first three digits are the ordinal day of the year, the last digit is the last digit of the year. For example '0123' would be the 12th day of 1983.
A '71 SS was a pretty big step over a Varsity. The crank was the literal anchor dragging it down ...
