Turbo saddles
Are my all time favorite. Just picked up the ultimate one. My ass is a happy ass.

Those are nice, I had one and sold it too my room mate, it looks good on his red Marinoni. My ass could never get comfortable around it, not sure why as it seems so similar to a rolls and my ass like rolls. My ass is definitely a saddlist... never likes a turbo... always liked how the look but never comfortable on one.

A seller in Portugal has a few more NOS for $85. I may have to pick up another one. They easily go way over $100 on ebay, even the plain Turbos.

I have a plain black one from the mid-80s, and I think that without question it's the best-looking saddle from that period; it has a classic shape, and looks great from the rear or front -- even the redundant "turbo" x 4 has a confident swagger to it, while still exuding "economy of means." I'm partial to the original, with the simple white or black graphics. I've got one of the Hinault special edition ones too, except in a very faded burgundy. It's starting to wear out, though. :(

y'know...Selle San Marco has thought enough to keep the Rolls and Regal in production. I wonder if Selle Italia might be "convinced" to re-introduce a couple choice Turbos (I don't mean broken kneecaps or anything, just...popular demand...yeah...that's right)

I have this super-rare Turbo SLG from '84 (?). Note that the shell is cut higher near the rails compared to the standard Turbos, and it had early aluminium alloy rails. It's also super-comfy to boot.
I also have a black perforated leather Turbo that's almost new. I'm not using it though - it's sitting on a shelf. |

My '92 Series 5 has the original Vetta Turbo. I guess the Vetta's are just a rebadged Selle. I can be in that saddle all day and not one bit of discomfort.

Hmmm...thanks for the tip! Finding burgundy shoe polish may prove difficult, but I'll look into it!

Hi, The two Hinault saddles showed different degrees of wear, one pretty good, the other pretty bad. But even the bad one, which was so rough on top that it appeared almost to be a rough-side-out model, was restored with three or four coats of black Kiwi shoe polish and a couple of coats of Kiwi neutral. I was amazed at how well this worked, with the wax apparently filling in the pitting of the originally smooth surface to make it shine again. The other Hinault saddle had the same rough surface but only in a few spots and they were easily restored by the same method. |
just picked up a black perforated job in very nice condition for.....$10! made my day.
sometime the most wonderful pull-offs are sitting in bike shops. (also got a bunch of free rigid mtn forks. heeheehee) |
