My first fixie

Ok - so I lied. It is really a single-speed:

:)

The real story - I'm getting a reputation as "the bike guy" that is starting to get out of hand. One of my wife's clients asked if she could bring a couple of bikes around for me to work on. I said "sure". She showed up with this little thing, and a somewhat larger little girl's bike to boot.

I spent an hour on these two little junkers, cleaning off rust, lubing, adjusting the training wheels, etc.

Good Fun.

Oh and WTF...Why didn't you lace up some phil hubs and rattle can the existing rims gold?

martinus 03-06-09 09:25 PM

Almost all of these tiny kid bikes and BMX bikes are single speed so there's no derailleur, no chain tensioner and vertical dropouts wouldn't work; probably not enough room in the rear end for horizontal dropouts, so track ends make perfect sense.

All of BBM's garage door shots are from the inside.

thenomad 03-07-09 11:49 AM

You need those dropouts to tension the single speed chain correctly. Everyone knows that. Sweet ride.
needs a Sella Italia saddle.
