Raleigh Capri part question
Howdy all,
I'm hoping you vintage bike experts might be able to help me out. I just dug an old Raleigh Capri out of a dumpster as a new project. It's mostly in great shape, just in need of a serious overhaul, except one issue: I don't even know what this part is called - the little plastic guy that is bolted onto the downtube to put tension into the shifter cables, but it's broken, snapped, kaput. Does anyone know how I can get a replacement part, or at least fake it? Thanks! Rob Here's a picture of the offending part: http://picasaweb.google.com/rob.kimb...19848585859986 |
Was that part originally welded on t he frame? If so you might need to replace it with a simple cable clamp guide.

I haven't seen one exactly like that. It might be pretty hard to find. There is a more common kind that shows up on ebay a lot for a couple of bucks. It's just a clamp that goes around the tube and has those cable stops built in. The LBS probably has them too.
You can also run cable guides all the way to the derailler. |
