'Modern' Bikes With Downtubes

These guys have some pretty cheap bikes... Mainly made out of Aluminum, but I found this interesting.

Still out there. BikesDirect probably has some on their bikes, too, as well as the good 'ol stem shifters.

I'm running DA 10 speed w/DT shifters on my Trek 5500. Love it.

Kona has a really nice bike with DTS, and also has a fricking SWEET chrome-lugged steel bike (though it's got brifters...ick)

A couple of months ago I made a posting in bicycle mechanics about Chinese derailleurs. I looked at roadbikes at alibaba.com trade listing. Most of their current road bikes had downtube shifters.

They have many component manufacturers. So many most of them will go out of business. It will be very interesting in 10 years I say.Looks like at the moment quality equipment comes from Taiwan and not mainland China. I am getting off topic here. I read good things about Microshift in bicycle mechanics. I have one of their mtb derailleurs bought 2 years ago and the quality is very good compared to the usual low end Shimano of the same price group.

Ah yes

Maybe not really something vintage with a famous name but still classic in a way. The results I got with 'road bike' over there seem to have changed massively in just 2 months. Less downtube shifters but , less no name parts , less promax but more this. There are still a lot of downtube shifters on the site though

Fuji has a couple: the lugged retro Connoisseur and the inexpensive aluminum Newest 4.0.

I really thought about picking up a Newest 4.0 for a commuter...I really like the FUji Palisade 1.0 as well
