Colnago Steel is Real Conversion ID questions
Hello Evderybody
Just picked up a Miami Vice style pink to green fade Colnago. It has a 1991 Columbus Super Sticker on it but I have seen it referred to as a SLX Conic.
I have several questions, did these come with Shimano 105? (or was it added) I know that the spacing is 130 mm and I read that an Ultegra 9 speed cassette is possible (mine is 6 speed" It has indexed shifters. Can this be converted to all campy and if so what group or year. I would like to swap out the 105 breaks, derailers etc. if possible in stages. I want to put different cranks on it and mine say Shimano 105 what else would I need to do to make her Campy?

130 spacing can definitely handle either Shimano or Campagnolo 9 or 10 speeds. You will need to be consistent between your shifter and cassette if you run it as an indexed set-up. The other components aren't quite as critical, although many would advise you to get a derailleur that is compatible with the pull ratio on the shifter. Group and year of Campy can be anything you want, as long as you have that consistency between brifter and cassette (which will mean you need a Campagnolo hub on the rear as well).

I think the Columbus frame decal should state that the tubing is 'SLX' with 'Spiral Conic' mentioned below 'SLX'.

It's a Colnago, it should be carrying Campagnolo components. Easy enough to do, simply replace everything on the bike: BRAKES, derailleurs, cassette, crankset, shifters, bottom bracket.
