Track Style???

I go to school at Mtsu in Murfreesboro Tennessee and lately i have been seeing more classic touring bikes than ever. Only thing is these cant be touring bikes because they all are single speed bikes with no brakes. they look like some kind of vintage track bike, like would be used in the 197os olympics or something. saw one similar today that was a peugot like mine just with the gears and brakes removed and painted satin black with new stickers, looked bad *****.

Sorry for the rant, the question was is this some new style ive stumbled upon or is this sorta common practice among vintage guys?

welcome to the 21st Century...Fixie Fever has struck your part of Tennessee, and it will stick around for many more (sickening) years until the next fad arrives...so hang on...
Edit: if you're a crass capitalist pig, this is your big opportunity to corner the local market. Stock up on:
skinny jeans
white belts
stingy-brim fedoras
spoker wheels (front only)
Oury grips (and start chopping riser Mtn. bike handlebars down to no more than 8" wide)
trust me, therein lies madness (and MAD, MADD money)

You forgot Toshi double straps and anything with an "NJS" logo.

And the grips have to be color matched to some deep V's and a top tube pad.

cigarettes

Funny thing is, that'd play well in Japan too.
