Bianchi bikes should only be celeste. IMHO

Is the fork CF or just painted black? Either way it's a very nice bike. Great job, you'll enjoy it.

Mine is a beautiful metallic charcoal / "Ralph Lauren brown" with gold lettering, but Celeste would indeed be preferable.

No to the Carbon Fiber fork. My budget didn't allow too many new products. It is the original steel fork.

Thanks for great comments!

Would that mean my Schwinn Le Tour that was Celeste is a Bianchi too then?

jeremyb 04-01-09 04:47 PM

did you paint the pedals?

the fork looks odd to me, where it goes into the headtube, its like too small or something? I know there's nothing wrong with it, but it looks kind of funny.

Other than that, the bike looks superb, well done!

the bike looks great. but really, why are you posting it here? are 1999 bikes Classic or Vintage now?

luker 04-01-09 10:11 PM

sure. they don't make 'em any more, right?

I posted it here because there are a lot of people here doing restorations. I know it is not a "classic" but may inspire some to restore what they have (regardless of bike age). The waterslide decals were handmade (not the "BIANCHI" ones). There is a thread floating around here somewhere regarding those. The frame was stripped and repainted. Another thread somewhere on that. I also got a lot of my ideas from the CV forum so I figured the most appreciation for what was done, would be here.

The fork is stock - may just look weird in the angle that the picture was taken.

Pedals are my old LOOK's repainted.

My goals were:

1. To have a Celeste Bianchi - (accomplished)
2. Completely clean, relube, adjust, restore - (accomplished)
3. Replace worn and or needed parts(replaced all tubes, tires, chain, bar tape, cables, seat) - (accomplished)
4. Do this all within a reasonable budget - (accomplished)

Well done. That's a damn sexy piece of velo right there.

Looks good except for the front skewer.
