... My bikes got stolen today.

I thought yesterday and my date-gone-way-downhill with Ms. Banjo Mole was bad. Today, I decided to ride the MTB to school for a change of pace, instead of the Trek, Centurion, etc. About ten minutes before English ended, my phone rang. It was my mom, calling from home, with the sheriff. My house was broken into, my computer equipment, dirt bike, and most of my bicycle stuff was stolen. (With the exception of a Univega I'm building for a friend, it's in pieces, however, when they tried to roll it out, the rear wheel slipped and the chain got sucked into the dropout/chainstay.)

This whole thing seems so surreal. It's a good day to remember that cosas son solamente cosas, and there is more to life than bicycles and such.

Also, it's a good day to remember that it's April Fools Day.

I love you guys, happy April 1,

Nick

I have to say, I am not sure that joke is in good taste!

This is the worst fear for many of us!

Too true. However, at the time of posting, before I realized that everyone knew it was April 1st, I thought I was terribly clever, and terrible. But alas, its just my bikes being "stolen." There isn't much to lose. (A mauve Centurion with a MTB triple, and the lady's Peugeot are the only rideable bikes right now.)

Yes, bicycles are very nice things, and one of my passions, with music and things also sitting up there, but at the end of the day, they are still only things (although, again, very nice things) and the people we meet and help, and the things we do and thoughts in our minds are far more valuable.

But I do apologise for my poor taste!

*However, I find this whole holiday in poor taste.

I don't know of a good translation for it, but what I did, in spanish, would be quite pesado.

That's a good word for it.

Excellent joke but you didn't have to reveal it so quickly. You could have waited for the sympathy replies to pile up first.

having lost two good bikes to thieves, I tend to be not amused, but I did initially fall for it.

no no, no offense intended! after I read that I couldn't remember which was the correct form and it has been bugging the heck out of me! One of those things where you can't quite make up your mind which one is correct.

I fell for it, too. Thanks for not dragging it out. But is the comment about the bad date with your lovely lady friend also part of the April Fool's joke, or was that real?

I also agree that it was a good call not to drag this one out, that would definitely and unquestionably cross the line from "amusing joke in okay taste" to "just pi$$ing people off..."

But as for the date...

*sigh*

That part was serious. It was a bad date, and completely my own fault!

Hmm. It'll take some dragging to get that story out of me, I'm not exactly proud of it...

Nah, things are going along okay. Admittedly, a little akwardly, but we're like an old married couple.

It may have set the boat rocking, but a few ill-directed fanciful words written on paper on the inherent cuteness of a girl I met at the library (why did I even write that?) that she dug out of my backpack while we were picnicking certainly won't capsize this ship.

That was a wordy explanation, decipher at your leisure.
