suntour sprint hubs with tubular rims
I was recently given some "raceday" wheels from a friend for helping her fix up and sell a few bikes. her dad used to race and the wheels seem quite nice, still spin very smoothly and are quite light, much lighter than the wheelset that i have on my other bike. the front wheel has some very thin bladed spokes, radially laced, while the back is a traditional 3x with round spokes (haven't counted spokes yet, but id say at least 32, maybe even 36).
as i don't really race, is it worth buying a tubular tire and gluing it on? at this point, im looking mainly at using the front, the rear will have to wait (only non-modern geared bike has 27" tires and is currently set up for touring). i would like to see what all the hype is about with tubulars, and would like to use the gift. I can get an entry level tubular for about $30, and i feel like its something i should try just to see "how it was done in the old days".
just for the record, im 6' and weigh 180. i have no idea what width tires to get, but i prefer 25's on my race bike, 32's are on my commuter, and 38's are on my fixed/SS (set up for cyclocross). This would probably be used on my modern race bike occasionally, as it is used for training rides, and i am unsure how the thin bladed spokes would hold up to CX abuse.
I will try to get some pictures up soon, I need to take pictures of all my bikes just so i have a record of them.

I sure would reconsider using bladed spokes for CX. They are for high speed road riding.
