So I can neither confirm nor deny but I got this bike from a Guy in Clairemont who says he got the bike from his brother who had just died and supposedly before his death had been at Chili's one night for those awesome southwest eggrolls and some dude said "hey bro, would you like another maragarita?" According to his account this Guy was the waiter and of course he got another cause the Cadillac maragaritas are the bomb. Anyways the next day he was dead.
So I said "What does this have to do with the bike?"
He said "bike?"
"Yeah, the Huffy."
"Oh that bike? Yeah..." so he begin to explain how he got sidetracked thinking about Chili's comfortable atmosphere and fine eats and forgot how he knew the bike may have been riden by a member of the band RATT.

So whatever. If you're a RATT fan or if you just love sweet Huffys let me know cause this bike is for you. But no questions about RATT cause I was poor as a kid and didn't own a cassette player and never heard of them. BUT LOOK AT ME NOW!

I built this bike a few months ago and it has been a lot of fun. It's time to let it go though. Everything is in working order. It is ready to ride...either solo or with a brave companion. $100 obo.

Make that VERY brave.

You must be nearby me because I keep getting faxes about this frigging bike and I swear he must be spamming with internet fax or something because I get it on both my machines each time, and I know I've never given out the 2nd # to any riding clubs or anything. :p

He's never going to sell it for that price unless he finds a collector. Good luck!

And the spurious shift levers on the upper top tube.

I suspect it would actually work a lot better if the high seat was on front with the working handlebars (although that might make it harder to mount, come to think of it). My one experience with a cheap tandem, the frame seemed very flexy, as if the rear person could lean noticiably to either side, and I would think that effect would be greatly exaggerated in this case.

I am ... speechless. Turn away Robbie Tunes. It's the most color coordinated, drewed-up Dave Scott Ironman Expert fixie conversion EVER. I'm surprised it doesn't have pink effin spokes! (Apologies if this has been posted already.)

Ridiculous custom 59cm Dave Scott Ironman Expert Centurion fixie - $950 (Lakeview)

Date: 2010-10-19, 8:47PM CDT
Reply to: sale-bwn8z-2015339531@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

What I've built up here is sort of a fantasy of my first bike that I cut my teeth on Chicago's streets with. I used to have one that was entirely silver and set up as a road ride and it was one fast bike and also what made me fall in love with cycling in Chicago. This " fantasy" version is built up as follows: 59cm frame in pink and yellow built from Tange 1 double butted tubing with nice lug work. The frame has been ridden before and shows some wear, but is in fantastic shape for it's age. The only blemishes are cosmetic and would rate an easy 8 out of 10. The geometry is very tight and agile with a 59cm ctc seat tube, 57cm ctc top tube and 62 cm ctc downtube. In an effort to clean up the look of things without permanently altering the use of the bike, I have carefully ground off the shifter bosses that protrude from the downtube. If you do want to rebuild it as a road bike, all you need are clamp on downtube shifters. Anyway here's the rundown: NOS Shimano 105 headset, NOS vintage Shimano Dura Ace bottom bracket, new Miche Supertype alloy seatpost, new Nitto 100 Jaguar NJS track stem, new Nitto B123 alloy track bars 38cm ctc, new Tec9 black 48T track crank, new MKS pink anodized track pedals, new Soma pink four gate toe clips, new Origin8 yellow leather double toe straps, new KMC 1/8" yellow track chain, new Surly 16T fixed gear cog and lockring, new rare pink leather racing saddle, new 43mm deep yellow Origin8 Track Attack track wheels with flip flop hub, new Duro pink 700 x 25 tires and new Bontrager yellow gel bar wrap. This bike has a standover height of 33.5". This means that you need an inseam of 33.5" at least to be able to fit this bike, so it should be good for anyone around 6' - 6'4". Either way please check your inseam. The price is $950 firm and I can be reached at 3123152550. If the ad is still up then the bike is still available. Get in touch soon though. A lot of my clients have seen this bike already and so have a few friends. Someone's gonna have an early Christmas!! Thanks. Below you'll find links to high res. pics on photobucket. One pic you'll notice for the NJS stamp on the bars appears to be on another build. It was but the customer changed their mind, so the bars were rewrapped for this bike, but the logo is now under the tape. Also if you're interested in something a bit different you can check out nottooshabbycycles.com for a gallery site of my past work.

Dude, that seatpost is cool.

Amani576 10-20-10 08:36 PM

As tacky as it is, it doesn't appear to have been drewed. It still has all the braze-ons and looks like the shifter braze-ons were covered in a yellow tape (quite tastefully, too). Unless they got rid of them. In which case it's still not terrible.
I've definitely seen worse.

The shifter bosses were drewed off.

The bigger question here is what could possibly justify that price? I doubt the parts all add up to even $800 at retail.

Yep.

I don't care how "careful" he was -- I wouldn't grind ANYTHING off a Tange #1 tube. It's just too thin: 08.mm/0.5mm.

That frame is a time-bomb.

This ad is one of my favorites. I see this guy posting a decent amount, and recently he also used the word "scrungy" to describe a bike on craigs. He also doesn't really like using the space bar between commas, which I can't figure out.
