orange metalflake frame, original paint, awesome chrome fenders-crank-and sprocket, all original including seat, pedals, ball headlight-works, and Trelleborg whitewall tires-size 26 x 1 3/8. Bike was built for AMC by Murray,Ohio. This bike rides super nice, has twist grip 3 speed Shimano hub. Classic AMC metal headbadge. Some chips and scrapes here and there but this bike is super-no rust at all-kept indoors it's whole life. All original parts....nothing changed. must see to appreciate. I ride it all over and it gets a lot of attention from people...they can't believe it's a '67.

Forget the fact that at $400 it is overpriced by about $250.

The real question is: Is it in "perfect condition" or merely "almost perfect condition"?

It is a perfectly cromulent bike! It has original EVERYTHING -including genuine original equipment Raleigh air which fully embiggen the tires!

There is nothing on that bike i would want to keep the wheelset and the brifters have value i suppose but for $270 i don't see a lot of profit.. though maybe if you sold everything on ebay.

and man modern parts on vintage road bikes look ugly. whats up with that super low end derailleur attached to the hanger by the derailleur claw.. never seen that before

Yeah the 105 brifters mated to the department store SIS derailleur is blowing my mind right now. Love to see how that set-up shifts.

Between the backwards bars (sans tape, as is the style of the day) and the saggy chain, I'd say that's the ultimate hipster steed. Must ride like a dream ...

Arggggg.

Its never surprising to see an overpriced item not sell. What surprises me is why so many sellers think re-listing at a HIGHER price will bring a different result.

Ever hear of a Stella "Arctic"? These were promotional bikes for the Arctic Cat company and were produced in limited numbers. I used to have one and sold it back in '82 (it was circa '77-78). Nothing special about the bike, hated the saddle but got used to it.

Anyway, saw one that was in crappy condition for sale at 175.00, the seller said they were rare and have been seen going for 400-800.00 due to their desireability and collectability. The bike wasnt worth 50.00 really.

If he really knew how rare these bikes were, he'd think twice about his "have been seen going for....". You dont see these things around much. And "rare" does not equate "expensive". Pffffft. Craigslist. Why do I keep reading the stupid thing.

Yeah, but see TO HIM, he's sitting on a goldmine, and expects to sit back and just wait for offers to pour in....usually, he ends up scratching his head and saying "how come my bike hasn't sold yet"?

'78 ROCHAT road bike 58cm - $1800 (Minnetonka)

from the ad:

This is a 1978 ROCHAT 10 speed road bike I bought used in Switzerland from the original owner. He had it made at the local shop, right next to the train station in Montreux. The stem is engraved with the shop owners name stating it was prepared personally by him. The frame is signed (in paint) by the frame builderas well on the down tube.

It was stored for many years then I used it for a few years in the 90's then stored it again for the last 14 years.

It is a full Campagnolo Record group- I have the original pedals as well with toe clips and straps.

It's not immaculate because it's over 30 years old but it looks pretty damn good, and it rides fantastically. Reynolds 531 tubeset with campy drop-outs, mavic 36 spoke rims with crappy Continental tires. It's a coppery color, almost a matte finish. Could use a rebuild probably and a new set of those nice, red campy brake pads. When I say 58 cm I am measuring from the center of the seat post to the center of the stem- the length of the top tube.I'm 6'1" for comparison.

You won't see another one around, and the frame wears the world champions colors, serious stuff.

Look at this genius......could be wrong, but doubtful that thing fetches anymore than say $200-$250(and thats being EXTREMELY kind).

https://cgi.ebay.com/1973-Schwinn-Par...item3368b8e920

I could buy a Caad 9 for that price, or a new Canyon/Trek bike.

Not many early 70's Paramounts are auctioned off on Ebay for that kind of money. This similar one recently sold for $1000.

That first link you sent? doesnt show if someone bid on the bike for $1000, so it's hard to gauge whether he sold it for that or not? my guess is...he didnt sell it for the price he was asking?

I know(second statement). Im sure that Schwinn is nice and all..but, the parts are way behind the times. Might be a good buy for someone willing to buy it& let it sit in their home, as a showpiece or something? But, I'd rather have a Caad, or a Trek/Canyon, if Im going to spend THAT kind of dough, you know?

To each, their own. BTW, I have a Cannondale Synapse that I ride all the time. Love it. Many here, me included, would like to buy a nice vintage Paramount and ride the wheels off of it.

You do know that this is the Classic and Vintage forum, right?

Got this email for my 2000 Hardrock which i'm selling for 180

Hi I'm interested in your bike. Because it's old school and no shocks it's probably heavier than the bikes today. With that I will give you $120 in cash. If that works for you, I'll take it off your hands ASAP!
