Woodgrained frameset - $400 (Reading)

This is a steel frame from 1987. It's a custom paint job obviously. Just the frame-set, and the bottom bracket. All the bearings were cleaned and re-greased with white lithium.

Just add your own parts and ride away.

I'm located in Reading, PA but I can meet you in the middle. Maybe at the bike shop in Hatboro.

I guess the fork is made from weeping willow? maybe if you steam it really well the fibers will relax and it will spring back into shape.

BG, you beat me to the punch. I think we should all write to him and tell him that he's a fool to sell it for a mere $2k.

"Luke, modern race bikes of this quality routinely sell for at least $8,000 if not more. It doesn't make sense for you to sell for a mere $2,000 when your bike can do everything the other can do, and it's made in Italy, and it's got so much vintage brownish patina oozing out of all the steel parts which most certainly adds value to your bike. Dude, you scored big-time, I'm so jealous!"

Hi,
I saw your ad on Craigslist and I want this bike. Unfortunately I can not afford $2000 so I am offering $1950. Is this OK with you?

Can you please send me more pictures? I would like to see what the inside of the tubes look like and a picture of each chain link would be great.

I will be in your area on Monday so I can pick up the bike then. Can you put it in a Wal-Mart bag for me so I can take it on the buss?

Many Thanks
Billy Bianchi

Cannondale CAAD 4 - $500 (Boston)

Date: 2011-08-12, 1:26PM EDT
Reply to: sale-n2b8p-2543294607@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Selling this bike it was my husbands, I just want to get rid of it. I am selling it for extremely cheap because I don't know anything about the bike, just that it was valued at $1800+ new. The back was purchased used a couple of years ago. Like I said I don't know the specifics, someone who came out to see it said that it was a 58-60cm, but they were looking for something smaller. The bike does not have a front tire, the frame was dented and I will not be purchasing a new one.

ONLY serious inquiries please! AGAIN, no details on the bike which is why I am selling for such a low price.

ROTFLMAO...Nice one. BTW, what "bike shops have appraised $1,000-$2,000" for this bike? Am I missing something with that "appraised price"?

haha. They're the toe clips that aren't toe clips. The big, garishly coloured strips of velcro favoured by Hipsters the world over.

From their own website: "We founded Hold Fast because we couldn't find any toe clips that could stand up to the rigors of fixed gear freestyle riding. " Makes sense. Traditional toe clips = good enough for the likes of Fausto Coppi. Same said toe clips = not good enough for someone doing a wheelie on his way to the bar.

Also, that frame goes for $180 new. $180!!! What the hell's it made out of, and what (because it couldn't be a who) is it made by? You could spend that on a saddle.

I suspect toeclips and shoes with slotted cleats would work as well or better at standing up to the rigors of fixed gear freestyle riding, but Van's doesn't make a shoe that can accommodate slotted cleats.
