We've got Craigslist sellers down here in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale asking $350 for clean Varsities. I think they see old and just assume collectible value. No surprise: they do not seem to be selling at that pricing.

The angle of the headlight doesn't seem quite right... Seems to be pointing down too far or something...

I believe this is from a local flipper. He always makes up a story to go with the bike. At least there are lots of big photos of the "patina". Correct me if I am wrong but if this was sitting next to a dumpster wouldn't you just toss it in? I know needy children want bikes but....

There's a pretty big market out there for old "muscle" bikes, and although girls bikes don't sell as well it's not often you see one that isn't a Schwinn or Murray or some other common brand. That one is pretty far gone, but not completely unsaveable. If nothing else, at least all the parts are there so you know what to look for if you were to restore it. I could see an off-brand (for that type of bike) going for that price. They're smaller than adult bikes so shipping across the US isn't as bad either. I bet the seller gets at least $40 for it.

She's a lady:

------------------------
https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/bik/2551305117.html

58CM Schwinn Road Bike - $200 (Hollywood)

Up for sale is a sweet 58 CM road bike that goes wicked fast. I bought this a few years back from a bike shop in Philadelphia. From day one it was love at first sight. I rode her everyday, sometimes twice, and she never complained that I was riding her too often or too hard, just took it and kept on going. What a champ. She is everything I ever wanted in a bike, she's fast, lightweight, well lubed, and doesn't complain (squeak). I'm only parting with her because I need the money.

I'm asking for $200, but she's worth so much more.

------------------------
Translation:
If I anthropomorphise my old road bike I may con a sucker into paying an extra $100 for it. And finally get some return on the tuition I paid for that crummy community college creative writing class.

Something about the makes up a story statement that strikes my funny bone! Does the story always change with the make or origin of the bike? For instance, if this was a Peugeot tourer would his ad read something like, I toured the Alps and the Pyrenees back in ---- on this bike?

For being a local builder, it seemed like a long time since I saw a Ted Wojcik for sale, so I decided to search for one and found this.

looking for Michael Wojcik (Florida)

Reply to: comm-dbtza-2531165848@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

I am looking for Michael Wojcik! I need to serve him divorce papers after being married to him for 20 years and not seeing him for 19 of those 20 years.... yep, Mike is married. I finally found him but he didn't want me to serve him papers because no one knew he was married. Now his phone number has changed and I can't reach him to set up papers to be served! Please help this gal out! Mike used to be a Bass Boat Captain and loves clubbing and bass fishing! He is blond with greenish blue eyes and is around 5 '10" tall and slender. Any info would be helpful so i can finally close this chapter of my life and not have to search another 19 years to track him down! Thank you!

Anybody want a 97 Grand Marquis?

https://tampa.craigslist.org/pnl/bik/2599414988.html

97 Grand Marquis To Trade For Road Bike - $1 (Treasure Island)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 97 Mercury Grand Marquis that I would like to trade for a good road bike to ride back and forth to work. The car has a good body minus a couple bubbles in the paint around the fender wells. The interior is in bad shape and really needs cleaned bad and the leather has some bad places but mechanically it is sound, it runs and drives good has cold A/C and a cd player. This would make a good work vehicle or daily driver for someone that needs a dependable car and it is well worth a nice bike it is just in my way. So please text me anytime with some pics and let me know what you have

Redefine your ontology. Maximize your temporality. Ride a ressurrection.

Chocolate & Cherry. Blood & Kona. Brown & Red.

Fully rebuilt Schwinn frame was stripped bare to the raw & vibrant 4130 lugged cro-moly. Medium/ 54 cm (center-top) can fit 5'6'' to 6'0''. Fully repainted in three layers (primer, brown, clear coat) for maximum durability. Handbuilt wheels off of Red Weinmann rims, DT Swiss spokes, sealed bearings, red Origin-8 flip-flop hubs with cut-out flanges, freewheel included. These run extremely smooth and deliver a delightful staccatoed visual to the pilot. Lock nuts on axel for surviving urban warfare. Bontrager Crow-Bars w. red wrap. White cable housing. FSA exposed rail/minimalist saddle. New bottom bracket for endless velvet revolutions. Dia-comp brakes, matte black with new Sticky Finger pads. New Avid two-finger brake levers. Sakae crank. Black platform pedals. Vittoria Zaffiro tires. This is dialed in and ready to rip.

Transcend your pixilated cycling experience. Smooth out travel in the time / space continuum. Ride this custom rebuilt cro-moly steed through a new wave of metaphysical existence. Yeah, this may be over the top, but the fact is this bike is really sweet.

I'm a grad student (and ex-bike mechanic) and this bike has been my escape from the conundrums and the tedium of dialectical deliberations on time and eternity. Whoever rides these wheels will benefit from many hours of careful hand labor. The art of custom is the appreciation of the pre-temporal present stretched from past to future. Eschew mass-production and cookie cutter pre-fabrications. This bike was made for you.

E-mail for high-res pics, call for questions. If contacting via e-mail please use password : Moldy baloney sandwich . No long distance transfers/sales/deposits/happy offers. Locally and personally made. Locally and personally sold. Reasonable offers considered. Buyer assumes all risk, etc... 45 minutes from philly, on Rt. 1

Mark 609.933.7599

I thought my head was gonna explode or something after reading this, quite interesting

Wonder if he bought two of those Wal-mart Fixies to get those red tires? Maybe he'd be interested in selling the set of yellow ones, or another custom bike is coming down the pipeline?

this is a good one...
