Close Encounters of Some Kind........

[h=2]TANDEM RECUMBENT BICYCLE for BIPED LIFEFORMS - $1442 (RIPON, CALIFORNIA)[/h]

Date: 2012-06-10, 9:27AM PDT
Reply to: bxk8w-3040367612@sale.craigslist.org[SUP][Errors when replying to ads?][/SUP]

Attention: this offer is made to all bipedal Carbon-Based Planetary Life forms currently inhabiting the Earths' atmospheric and gravitational surfaces (especially those surfaces that contain pavement). Presented here is a one-of-kind original 'BikeE2' tandem recumbent bicycle. It is a perfect expression of the tandem bicycle, especially for those bi-pedal lifeforms 'joined at the hip' as it were. It is truly a joy to ride, and it's built to last. It was customized by a rider familiar with all things bicycle, someone who was a regular rider in all manner of conditions and environments. It is sad for the owner to have come to this point and sell his beloved machine, but...........This bike tracks very well in all orientations and at all speeds. In a downhill ride it's thrilling, and two can pump most hills with surprising ease. Around town, it's really easy to manage at intersections and, well, I could go on but you already know the joy of tandem riding.....This bike was made by BikeE formerly of Corvalis, Oregon. Gone since '03 or so, yet the parts that wear are standard items, widely available, so this machine still has a long service life. It is in first class condition. I will list the features, please pardon the format;
overall length - 83"
wheelbase - 57"
wheels - 16" Hookworm 110 psi tire, with a slimed thorn tube (all new) : 20" snafu HP 130 psi tire, with a slimed thorn tube (all new)
frame height - 24"
seat height - 28"
seat separation - 36" nominal
weight - 70 pounds - not bad as recumbent bikes are usually heavier than this.....
Adjusts for riders from 5' thru 6'5" tall up to 300# each!
Additionally: Sram 7.0 Disc Brakes and 7.0 Derailleurs ; Shimano XL cast petals (4) ; Cane Creek AD5 300psi airshock rear wheel suspension ; 15watt Vistalite headlamps (4) with 18 amp/hr 6V gel-cell system (with charger) ; extreme flasher setups (all sides) for maximum visibility ; decorated with retro-reflective materials for maximum visibility ; digital speedometer/ tripmeter computer thingy ; rear view mirrors (2) ; saddlebags (back of each seat) ; very nice Hookworm and Snafu tires, excellent flat resistance ; a kickstand is integral with the front fork, it makes the bike free-standing on a variety of surfaces ; It comes with extra tubes, front tire (16" hookworm) and some tools, and the air pump for the shock.
This bike was assembled with an eye to safety since it was intended to operate on the same surfaces as motorized vehicles, which is always a 'risky business'. As such it has been retrofit with things that increase it's visibility to the average motorist (a difficult task, given our cyclists' knowledge of the attention of motorists). It has 6v flashers rearward that can be seen 20 miles away in the clear air of our great Central Valley (great on those long straight farm roads), bright enough for daylight use!! It has 2 amber forward flashers, 2 Cateye side flashers, and much retro-reflective tape applied. In car headlights it is VERY effective. It has 4 - 15watt vistalite headlamps that may be used in any combination, powered by gell-cell 6volt batteries that provide a 4 hr runtime for all 4 headlites at once! (that's 60watts of headlites). If you use 2 lamps only, that's an 8 hr night ride. Day or night, no motorist will have the excuse that they just didn't see you. I always imagined that if I was ever run over, in court all the jury would need to see would be the heavily decorated and 'lamped' remains of this bike and any verdict would by maxed out in my favor......
This bike is easy to master....just forget what you know about bike riding and you'll be set. The recumbent is an acquired taste, a tandem recumbent doubly so. Once you've done one, it's hard to go back. This machine is a great traveler down in our gravitational well, especially if you get along real well with a like-minded person.
This bike seems like it'd be a collector's item.........The gel-cell batteries are new...........The flash pictures show what the motorist at night sees.........This is a special machine and good fortune will always follow it.........The price is somewhat less than I paid 8 yrs ago.......... There's more pictures in the next listing........... This will be a cash only transaction, so please do not ask....

Nice.

https://louisville.craigslist.org/bik/3074107283.html

This unique bike is available for the right enthusiast.

In mint condition all part working perfectly. The bike was in seclusion for several years and has been discovered recently
28 wheels and good racing tires.

It is an ATAX model, white color, with no signs of age. It has been participated in the 1974 Tour de France, but did not win.

10 gear shift from simplex is atached to the handle bar, ( the only modification done from the frame wher it originally was installed) it works perfectly.

Weimann 610, Vanqueur 999, Frant and rear breaks with all original parts.

10 gear with easy shift at the center column of the steering.

This is an immaculate deal for a 39 year old racing bike.

If you would like to see other item we sell look at craigslist FRANKFORT AVE /HILLCREST YOU WILL FIND ALL WE ARE SELLING NOW AS WE MOVE BACK TO EUROPE.

[h=2]Schwinn Bicycle - $150 (Spokane WA)[/h]

Date: 2012-06-14, 4:24AM PDT
Reply to: 8nstz-3076981023@sale.craigslist.org [SUP][Errors when replying to ads?][/SUP]

This is a 1970 circa Shwinn bicycle that I have restored and got a little creative with I completely repainted the bike, metallic red with black spots (to look like a lady bug!). I bought this bike to go to burning man last summer (summer of 2011) so I put all this time and money into it and literally only used it for that one week! Therefore, all the new parts I put on it and still like new! I put new tires and tubes on it, a new de-railer, a new chain, new brakes and cables, and a new nose-less Schwinn saddle (the bike seat)In addition, I took it to a bicycle mechanic and had the gears adjusted so that it shifts through all of them properly. The paint job did get a few scratches on it from the transport of it to and from burning man and the chain has a fair amount of dessert dust on it, but that is easily removed by taking off the chain, cleaning it and giving it a fresh coat of chain lubricant. This bike is a steal at this price, it is easily worth around $500! This was around number 20ish off the production line during its time. If anyone was interested, this bike is actually part of a "his and hers" couples set. This bike in particular, of course, is the "hers" or ladies bike...meant for a woman between 5'1 and 5'6 to ride. I also have the "his" or man's bike as well, although the mans bike has not been restored. It would defiantly require some work. It needs new brakes/cables, tires/tubes, chain, possibly a new de-railer and some adjustments to the gears so that it will shift through all of them properly. As a set and both restored you are looking at a value of between $800 and $1,000! Or you might want one or both of these bikes just for personal use and pleasure! So...I am willing to let the ladies bike go by itself for $150, or the set for $225. This is a GREAT deal! I am always willing to negotiate as I would really like to just get them off my hands because I live in an apartment complex and don't have a good place to store them and I honestly don't cycle very much. So if you are interested in one or even both feel free to call or text me at (509)481-0643, my name is Melissa.

Forwarded to me by a friend...

Failed hipster - fixie must go - $1100 (SLO)

I tried so hard. I dated a girl from Portland. I criticized cheese. I applied the term artisanal to every inanimate object that went in or on my body. I burned and singed my forearms just to make it look like I was going to culinary school. I grew Carol Brady hair. I got itchy from the finest flannel and I cut off circulation from the waist down with jeans that made my ass look like an elevator button.

. . .And I rode a fixie.

No more. It's all gotta go. The hair, the macrame, the texting overages, the Netflix and Hulu Plus. The record collection (have you ever tried to box up and move an effin stack of LPs?!) . . .and the bike. Pictured below is the bike. It's beautiful. It's got red rims. Red chain. Red tires. Red handlebars shaped like devil horns -- because it's the devil.

The guys at the hipster store don't tell you fixes don't stop. So I will. Fixies don't stop. Stop sign? Fixie don't care. Car coming turning in front of you at a three-way stop? Fixie laugh. Want Chipotle? Nope. Fixie want protein powder/beet/purple carrot/bee pollen juice and won't stop till he gets it. Fixie has a mind of his own.

Yesterday, Fixie got pulled over twice by SLO PD in three hours. In six months time, Fixie collected more tickets than a scalper for a Radiohead show at Hollywood Bowl.

I'm selling this badboy and tipping the dregs of my last PBR tall boy in his memory.

The (Devil) Fixie:
Cinelli Gazzetta Frame (2011)
Crane Creek and Origin 8 components

$1,100 ($1,600 new)

I hope the "dessert dust" doesn't cause her to see Mickey Mouse hands on tree limbs!

Oddly enough that is one of the rarest Schwinns out there, though not really collectable. Not many bent seat tube early Sprints around these days.,,,,BD
