Damn, good eye! I thought something was fishy about that bike (like the $#!tty components, the kickstand and the seat post installed backwards). You are totally correct, there was a pic of the same model bike with the stickers stripped on Amazon (gotta look for the bike with notes on the right).

He's definitely got a crooked dick. Wonder if somebody called him on it, the posting's gone.

Anyone want a spray-painted Fuji Mountain Bike?

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/bik/3184958619.html

Even the tires, wheels, brakes, cables, derailleurs, cassette, etc. got spray painted. Think he's trying to cover something up?

A Miyata 210 for $450???? Seriously??? Yea, it's in really nice shape, but even this price for a Miyata 210 in Oregon is completely nuts! And then you have to love the comparisons in the ad to the 610 and 1000 Miyatas. Guess ya can't blame the seller for trying.......lol. And what a deal!!! If you just want the frame, fork, and headset, it will only cost you about twice what a complete 210 normally costs.

https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/3166164488.html

[h=2]Miyata Expedition Touring Road Bike Triple Butted Steel = Minty Fresh! - $450 (Belmont SE or Eugene)[/h]

seat tube center to top is 58cm / top tube is 56cm. standover height is 32.5 inches = riders 5'10" or taller (estimate based on average inseams)

Limited Production 1984 Miyata 210 designed for touring - fabricated in Japan - lugged triple butted chromoly steel!

***Less than 150 miles on dry pavement*** - 100% stock original components that are old school made in Japan - super durable / reliable and easy to swap / upgrade / repair unlike the modern stuff that is made in the sexy / super light stuff that cracks / wears out quickly. This Miyata is made to last for decades not 2 years to the next upgrade cycle for many modern road bikes.

Stored in garage for over 25+ year protected from sunlight & moisture

the beauty of this beast is the FRAME. fabricated to similar standards as the top tier frames = hand brazing & fitted lugwork. same basic triangle tube material & sizing as the famous Miyata 1000 & 610 of the mid 1980's = triple butted alloy steel & fork blade tubing of maganese steel with engraved fork crown. Miyata used a lower cost component group on the 210 to offer a retail of about $400 in 1984 dollars.

***consider this a budget alternative to the costlier Miyata 1000 or 610*** - you are getting a top notch Miyata Frameset with the same lifetime warranty that was offered on the 1000 / 610. Expect this frame to last your Lifetime with proper care ...........many Miyata's are still on the road after 30 years of service.

Sugino Triple Crankset + Shimano Derailleurs = 18 speeds. Cantiliver Brakes. Quad Fork eyelets for low rider rack. Rear Dropout has slotted spacing for extra eyelet brackets. 41.5 inch wheelbase is the same length as the modern Trek 520 Steel Road Frame - some things never change on Touring Bikes. Classic Randonneur Bend Drop Bars with 22.2 quill stem. You can swap out the bars to townie or mustache or another "Velo Orange" Style you might fancy.

bill of sale with serial number confirmed = so you know this came from a good home

email me with your daytime phone number ( so I know you are a real Portlander ) ............ I travel to Eugene weekly - so can meetup along the Hwy 5 route near your town. If you just want the frame / fork / headset - pay only $275 cash.

"I JUST had this went through THOROUGHLY at Scheels" Guess we'd better ignore the flat rear tire then, huh? I'd also like to know what kind of crankset they put on this thing if he only spent $250 at the shop for all that work.

Oh, I know, that's why I posted it. Had a nice email volley with the seller too. It was up for about 6 hours before be replied, calling me a... 7 letter word and claimed that someone who "knew cannondales" bought it.

Not necessarily whacky, but I needed a new saddle for my fixed gear and found this one on CL.

BROOKS BLACK B.17 SADDLE! - $80 (dallas)

Brooks saddle rode for 2 months, SO COMFORTABLE! one scuff but I just polished it with brooks saddle shine!
I got a new saddle and need to sell this one!
$115 new $80 today!

Text or call me 9723426514
I'm in downtown Dallas

The ad was up a few days when I found it, so I figured it was gone. I sent a text message anyway and he replied a few minutes later that it was still available. He was about 40 miles from me, so I tried to talk him into meeting me halfway, but he didn't bite. Instead, we arranged that I would pick it up after work today. I went to work early so I could hopefully get to Dallas an back before rush hour hit. It was almost the time when I could leave and I sent him a message. No reply. I wait 15 minutes and call. Nothing. 15 minutes later I call again and as the phone is ringing I get the text with address. So I tell him I'll be there in about an hour (already lost a half hour :-\ ).

I make the drive and only hit a few spots of stopped traffic on the freeway. I get there and the address he gave me is (1) in an iffy, run-down neighborhood; looks like a combination of immigrant housing, drug dealers & cheap hipster housing; and (2) an apartment building. Not knowing which door to knock on, I call him and leave a message. Again... nothing. Ten minutes later, send a text message... no reply. Another ten minutes, another unanswered text. After a half hour, I'm ready to leave, so I call him one last time, and he's all, "Hey bro, sorry, I, uhhh, sorry, I'll be right out."

I got the seat but mentioned I'd been waiting a half hour out front, so he knocked $15 off the price, which is probably how much the gas cost to drive all the way out to Dallas. The saddle has a few scuffs but is otherwise fine.

So, overall, I'm happy, but geez, if someone calls and says he'll be there in an hour, you would think the person would listen for their phone. Dufus.

Continental? Where? Looks like an old Nishiki, or some other Japanese made entry level?

So the guy claimes to have just bought this saddle, which was "so comfy," then gets a new one two weeks later, decides to sell this one, lives in a sketchy/drug-dealer neighborhood and didn't reply to your calls... at which point did you realize you were buying a stolen saddle?

They could have been just a bike shop employee? They have access to cheap parts, don't get paid a whole lot to afford deluxe accommodations, and are generally unreliable when it comes to being reached on the phone? Only my personal experience though since I was recently one myself? YMMV.,,,,BD

Well if it was, it wasn't posted as stolen to CL, because it did occur to me and I did check. The guy's phone identified him my name and his message said he did drum lessons. Anything you buy on CL is potentially stolen.

Selling my Vintage Nishiki Track Bike.
The condition is decent. I changed the tires, inner-tubes, and seat.
The tire brand is Kenda and the seat is Back Trails.
This bike is really old and looks amazing. It rides smooth and will get you where you need to go.
Can't shift gears. So it is basically a fixie. aka fixed gear.

I'll bet those forks are custom, super-rare Italian low-rider forks.
