Of course he can't use the bike. He's glued to the paper, next to some macaroni and a crumpled up picture of Cindy Crawford.

I found this ad amusing (and well-written!).

It's a bike! Sorta! And it's for sale! Holy smokes! - $20

"Were this bicycle a house, a realtor would call it a cozy fixer-upper, which is a nice way of saying it's old and weird and I'm 94% sure it's haunted (not really) (I don't think)."

Definitely not Eisenhower on the grips. If they're stock (and they look to be) I would venture the Carter administration as to when they were installed. You ARE right though, very well written.,,,,BD

Is it possible? Does the almighty Budget Bicycle Center of Madison Wisconsin have a competitor? How, you ask, could anyone be feeble enough to steal a business plan so gawdawful it qualifies as neither "business" nor "plan"? Rest assured, dear reader, that somewhere in the Swamps of Jersey there is indeed a seller missing just enough brainpower to take such a daring step. I present to you ebay seller silver7176, and his amazing Ross Mount Washington:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ROSS-BIKE-CL...item2571d78734

THIS SALE IS FOR 1 VINTAGE RARE ROSS MT WASHINGTON MENS 26" MOUNTAIN BIKE

THE BIKE IS IN USED CONDITION

FOR LOCAL PICK UP ONLY

IN HOWELL NEW JERSEY 07727

Color: WHITE

THIS IS A VINTAGE COLLECTABLE BIKE
PLEASE REVIEW ALL PHOTOS AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS PRIOR TO PURCHASE

THIS BIKE IS USED AND IN GOOD CONDITION
EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A LOOK OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS

BEING SOLD AS IS !!!
This bike is so rare I've found a couple of them in the trash. I fixed them up and gave them away for free. I even like Rosses; I own three, but this model is the bottom of Ross' MTB barrel. And I paid less than a tenth of the asking price for all three of my Rosses.

Do not fear, gentle reader! Budget Bicycle Center has sensed this threat to their standard. With their antennae twirling at the threat of the above overpriced Ross, they've found one worth a full 15K! Oh, boy! Price war in aisle three-- it's Bizarro day in Ross World! Start that blue light special a flashin'!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1987...item519f65392d

Granted, this is a bit higher up the Ross food chain. But you can't let a competitor steal your thunder or your business plan!

Collectible and rare, possibly, but is a saddle really worth almost £2000?

NEW AND NEVER USED !

"The association of a duralumin frame with a Brooks solid butt hide top brings to the lightweight enthusiast the most pratical solution of the ultra light seat problem. In a saddle of this nature, the importance of a reliable leather top, capable of retaining its shape, cannot be overestimated. This model resembles the B17 Champion Narrow, and is strongly recommended for the Clubman's use. Gent's model only. Size : 11"x 6" x 2 5/8" Weight : 1 lb. 4 ozs." Price : 17/6 " Source Brooks 1933 Catalog (https://www.biker.bz/brooks-brand.html)

There we go :

The pride of my collection. The ultimate in collectable saddles. Manufactured only during a year or two in 1933

This saddle has been kept for nearly 80 years in a basement. Hence this Brooks Champion Lightweight is in really good conditions. Leather looks great. Very minor marks. No surface cracks, no tears. Round rivets. Brooks badge is perfect as well. This Brooks Champion Lightweight is Structurally perfectly sound. Alloy girder chassis looks awesome ! Included the original Brooks seat pin clip.
That is a rare collectable for museum, to add a masterpiece to your private collection, or simply to install on your Raleigh Clubman René Herse, Alex Singer, Masi, Colnago, Cinelli, vintage randonneuse, trekking, racing bicycle made of reynolds 531 equipped with maxi-car hubs, robergel trois étoiles spokes mavic rims, clement tires,
bluemels mudguards, simplex derailleur sedis delta chain simplex derailleurs pivo atax philippe combo, mafac raid stronglight competition headset, bottom bracket and stronglight 57 crankset / chainset atom maillard 700 spidel pedals
This is not the Brooks B16 castalumin nor an Ideale

Serious offers invited. I am open to any reasonable offer. I need funds for a racing bicycle purchase hence the sale of this greatly valued item.
Please don't be shy, obviously i will not accept 50 £ offers but try an offer you may get this saddle.

Thanks

Remember "Where's Waldo?" Well, here's his close cousin, "Where's Mafac?". See if you can spot the missing part before you die in a horrible wreck! Entry fee a low, low $250 and includes this wonderful Peugeot UO8:

Hint: It's not the saddle or the bartape that are missing! Those are new, thank goodness!

And don't forget, this bike is:

Great for commuting.

Maybe it's a new breed of bike inspired by fixies - multiple gears but no freewheel. You don't need a brake because you just downshift to slow down like in a manual car going downhill. Probably originally built in Portland.

Here's a nice business model: buy crappy bikes from Walmart for $150, and sell them as "vintage / brand new" at your bike shop for $200. Now that I think of it, it's not very different from what most businesses on South Beach do...

Well, I had a chance at a '88 Panasonic road bike, had the meeting all set up after seeing the C/L advert. The girl just called me and told me that she was going to give it to her brother instead. $50 for a vintage Panasonic would've been a great coup, but, oh well, blood's thicker than water...

Does this look odd to you? Seller claims it "Rides perfect" but I guess his idea of riding does not include stopping. $350 for this gem

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst...254599026.html

Looking at the RD I suspect if you tried to get a lower gear it would snap off.

Heres another one yet another over priced over built fixie. I can't believe someone spent a lot of money building up this frame Raliegh Record ? with crazy looking fork. Is it just me or does this frame and fork look just a little off for Record?

MINT CONDITION FULLY INTACT AND RIDES LIKE A DREAM !!!!!!

917-xxx-xxxx

Moe

Moe bought this Hercules from me a couple of months ago, along with two other bikes I had displayed on my lawn, for a group buy of $165. The other two bikes were a '77 Sears Free Spirit single-speed and a '70's Sentinel ten-speed with lugged frame. He's a large, fast-talking native New Yorker who owns a warehouse near Detroit from which he resells all manner of used goods, he said.

None of these three bikes was attracting interest at the $75 price point after a solid year or more in my possession, and so I was considering lowering the price to $50 apiece when Moe came along with his sales pitch. He originally offered me $200 for these three plus a pre-1948 Schwinn Pullman that was displayed with them. When he left, I figured he was gone and started putting bikes away for the night.

But he came back with money from the ATM, and expressed great dismay that I did not have the Pullman for sale anymore. That's how I knew for certain that was the only bike he really wanted. I'd had several offers on it earlier, and wasn't about to let it go for less than half of my asking price.

He assured me he was going to make $100 on each of the bikes he bought from me. Well, I guess he can make $450 on the Hercules alone -- IF he can find a rube who would drop $500 on a $50 bike. OldFatGuy once sold a gold-and-chrome version of this Hercules in Ann Arbor for around $150, I think -- but that bike was in much better shape than my burnt orange model.

Amazing what the quick-buck artists think they can get for a bike with no effort.

Well that Hercules is while in good condition is far from being mint and as foe rides like dream even in great riding shape these tend to be little heavy and clunky. I have never had or seen cheaper english three or single speed that I could describe as riding like dream and I have owned several and repaired a lot of them. I just can't figure out why some people think these type bikes are worth a lot of money. I for one can't seem to sell one for much more than $100.
