They spray painted over the reflectors rather than just removing them. That's just brilliant.

Can you believe this? Do people really want these brakes that badly? Perhaps I should sell mine

Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me they seem to be missing an arm, a whole QR mech, several washers and nuts, not to mention a stone and still sold for $107 weird

I have seen a lot of really awfull single speed conversions on CL but this has to be one of the worste. I wouldn't even have the nerve to call this thing bicycle.

Your eyes don't decieve I don't see enough parts there to make one functioning brake. Plus they appear to be parts from several brake sets just thown together to make what kind looks like a set.

At least the seller is up front that this is not a real De Rosa. But still, it's more than likely this frame is going to be passed off as the real thing to some poor ol' schmuck down the line. That fork is so wrong, even for a pretend De Rosa.

Project DeRosa clone - frame has some of the makings of a DeRosa frame but is not - its still a nice Italian made frame with
heart shape head tube lugs and BB - campagnolo rear dropouts - internal top tube routing.

Recently refinished in Ferrari red with new decals and generic chrome fork.

Size: 57cm c-c seat tube, 56cm c-c toptube.

Includes - Road bike wheelset with Nuke Proof hubs.

That fork looks like it would be wrong on almost any nicer vintage frame. But a nicer Italian columbus chromed fork with sloped lugs would have cost the schmuck who painted this thing a lot more.

I can't stand some of the people on craigslist. The ones that post things just as a 'feeler'. There was a Giant Rainier (minus wheelset) for sale for $150.

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/bik/3277752616.html

I've got a 2005 Giant Rainier 19" bike frame for sale. The tires were stolen and I don't have time anymore to fix it up. Everything is included, except the wheels. The bike lists at $700 new (with wheels obviously), and it's in pretty good shape. My dad was the original owner and kept it meticulously maintained. Asking $150, OBO.
http://images.craigslist.org/5L85E45...fc4082137b.jpg

On Monday, I was the first person to e-mail the guy and ask when I could take a look at it, assuring him that I was very interested in it. He told me he wouldn't be available until Tuesday night.

This morning he said he sent me an e-mail:

Do to the interest I've received, I'm raising the price to $200. Sorry for the advertising error.
I told him that I was still interested, and was going to drive out there tonight.

Then he sends another e-mail to me:

Sorry for the change of plans. I'm going to delist the bike for a few days. My roommate thinks he can get some cheap wheels to get it back into running condition.

I think there's a high probability that I will put it back on sale in a few days (after we figure out how much it will cost us to get new rims/rotors/casette, etc.).
Figure out what you're selling, and how much you want for it - BEFORE you list it. Don't jerk people around.

That fork appears to be the one Niagara sells for about $20.

cb400bill 09-18-12 08:06 PM

I'd walk away.

I did. I told him I'm only interested in the bike without wheels. I already have a good wheelset, and was purchasing this frame and components because I needed a larger frame, and it has better components than are on my current MTB.

I would bet this frame is relisted shortly as it is now ounce the seller figures out what putting a correct wheelset on the bike with cassette rotors and tires will actually cost. This bike is really only of value to someone who already has a correct wheelset. I wouldn't be surprised if the guy e-mails you in about a week asking if will wtill buy it for $200.

He can take someone else's money. I'd rather spend it elsewhere.

I emailed this guy (not sure if he reads emails) and told him the frame was aluminum.. it's a cool build but asking $500... lol

hodgykins 09-19-12 04:54 PM

And I even get to go visit the store (Budget) so you have not seen anything...lol

Check this Madison CL ad. I think the bent handle bars are the least of this bikes problems...like maybe front forks and who know what else.

If I ever sell a bike on Craigslist, I promise and pinky-swear NOT to us the word "vintage"!

Don't do it Tom! Selling your soul to the dark one will cost you eventually.

He might charge you $6 for the zip ties he used to bind your arms and legs as he throws you in the trunk. :)

himespau 09-20-12 08:01 AM

Yeah, but then you'll have a story to tell all your friends (assuming you make it back alive). How much is that worth? $6 easily, no?

cb400bill 09-20-12 02:58 PM

I wonder if this is some kind of joke or not. Maybe he really thinks he is posting on the CL from the Netherlands.

Bike seller on Holland MI Craigslist selling a Dutch bike for 250 Euros and claiming he is from The Hague.

Dear bbcbikes,

If I wanted one of your mechanics to tune it,
how much extra would that cost ?

Does it cost more to tune it in the key of G?

He still has everything he has ever tried to sell since his first ebay ad, am I correct? It reminds me of this guy in Marksville, LA who was posting ad, after ad, after ad. Everyday for a year or two, the same bikes over and over, statewide in every LA city with a CL. Always the same bikes, always $250+ for basic model bikes with horrible vague descriptions and no pics. He had NOT ONE single clue what he was selling, or the value.,,,,BD
