Murray, Schwinn, what's the difference? This bike looks like all the worst of the bike boom rolled into one awful piece of awfulness- and it's only 4 times the original price.

$750 for an old CAD 3 Cannondale mtb? You can get a new Hard Rock Sport disc 29er including tax for that kind of money?,,,,BD

I'd consider that bike at that price. It's pretty ambitious, but it's not the usual 4x market value ambitious we see in this thread. Those cranks (and BB!) alone are still pulling north of $200 on the secondary market, and those avid arch brakes regularly pull $100 EACH. That bike is stumpjumper quality, don't even compare it to a hardrock.

The ad in quesiton:

Yeah, I'd take that old C'dale with a NICE, practically virginal-looking, extra wheelset over a new Hard Rock ANY DAY!

Still may take a while to sell at that price, but...

This one is pretty funny - "Colnago Super give me an offer but it better be good". Check out the fork crown that's installed on the bike.....

If anybody wants to spend $750 for a 12 year old Cannondale that's your thing I guess. Bare C'dale frames sell for pennies, and it has a headshock that needs service. The extra wheelset is a nice bonus, but 3-400 would be the max I'd pay personally, and that's only in consideration of the components. Old mountain bikes generally do not sell well in Houston, because most serious riders moved onto newer and greater things. If it was an early lugged frame Stumpjumper or other interesting vintage mtb, then yeah I could see upwards of $600 or more, but in my humble opinion bikes from that era are just plain old "old"(as in outdated geometry, technology, etc) Asking a premium for a bike like this in the Houston area is a pipe dream. People just aren't interested unless it's dirt cheap. Been there, tried that.,,,,BD

Wait, $200 for a Coda crankset? I have a road Coda crank that seriously weighs nearly two pounds. It was the first thing I changed on the bike, and it lightened it up noticeably.

Yeah, I'm not kidding, check out the completed auctions on ebay when you search "coda crankset". If you have the magic motorcycle road crankset and BB, PM me, I'm not up for paying $200, but I've been looking for one passively for a while now. I could help you get some money for the road.
