Philly shows how it's done:

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3757831944.html

List at three times actual value, then downplay what you're selling. Also, who needs decent pictures when you have lo-res cellphone ones?

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3729636664.html

Depreciation and wear never happen, so make sure you list for nearly what you paid.

https://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bik/3746320733.html

Ugly, overpriced muscle bike on PHL Craig's for over six months despite the "reasonable" $325 price. But they aired up the tireds. Honey, where's my checkbook?

A few things bug me about this bike: "racing" bike with kick-stand, turkey levers, stem shifters, fenders and U-lock (lock not even thrown in?), and a high (to me) price of $200

[h=2]MOTOBECANE Mirage Racing Bike - Vintage - $200 (Spokane, WA)[/h] +-

Powered by LeafletTerms

45 E. Euclid Ave

Looking to trade/sell this collector's silver Mirage Racing bike! In excellent condition and it is like new. There are some chips in the paint but is original in every way. It was left here in the apartment by the previous owners and I have been riding it for about a month or so without any problems.

I am trying to trade it away for a mountain bike. I find that I spend more time off road then on it, and this bike is not made for that kind of wear. Further, it is slightly too big for me and is meant for someone taller. I have not taken dimensions of the bike, but will upon request.

A similar bike just sold on Ebay for $250 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Moto...-/221195073645
Even though I feel I am the only person who has ridden this bike, what little damage there is likely comes from people moving it around (it was used as decor for the apt - or so I was told).

If you want the bike lock as well - I will tack on another $20 bucks - it is brand new and costs $25 from Ace. Save you a little trouble.

I am willing to negotiate the price. If you would like more information, please text me at (920) 207-7727 or reply by email. 45 E. Euclid Ave (google map) (yahoo map)

They say a similar bike just sold on e-bay for $250. The e-bay listing says the listing was ended, not that it was sold, but you can't count on subtle things like the truth when you're trying to convince someone to buy your crap.

Definitely delusional, as evidenced by the following statements:
"nearly completely restored"
"everything is original except the chain, derailleurs, and brakes" (new components are of the walmart variety)
"these bikes were high end racing bikes. this particular model is hard to find in good shape and in it's current condition if it had the front wheel can go for 1-2,000$ or more. it is well worth the money"

For last year it would be a high. This year, in my area it's actually a bit low for an asking price. With fenders and rack I"d get between $!50 and $200. It be easier if he U lock was included.

The bike isn't so wacky, but the fact that the seller has being trying for a year to get $1,000 without success is.

[h=2]Softride Road Wing full Shimano Ultegra (Huntington Beach)[/h]

It's a POS Huffy. Why charge more than the original purchase price?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vtg-1979-Sch...item1c32187c61

Excellent used condition. Includes free rust and unusable chain.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Used...item2c6e19a411

It even has a twisted stem and turkey handles.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SHERRELL-CLA...item1e79e6ae5d

There's a reason the Bowden Spacelander never made it, and it doesn't have anything to do with some biddy falling off of a chair. It has everything to do with the market being only dozens deep for art bikes of limited practicality. Actual weight is what - a hundred pounds? Why wouldn't I just have that guy on CL in Brooklyn wrap a junker frame in fake carbon fiber?

Suntour cyclone mark 2 derail-er (pawnbroker spelling method) pricing is courtesy of bicyclist's retreat on eBay. They're the bbc of new-old-stock parts. These guys have no clue, so that bike's gonna sit for a hell of a long time.

Doesn't seem to have a functional rear brake, either. If that's what he considers "great" condition, standards must be pretty low where he lives. South Florida parrot head drinking bike, maybe. It isn't worth Paramount money, though. No LeTour is.

Either the stem on that Schwinn is the tallest ever made, or it's way past the insertion line. Guy must be eight feet tall.

My past experience has shown me that many people selling bike stuff are a bit delusional when it comes to accessing the wear of the items.

Some of the words that turn me off instantly, usually with parts are, "plenty of good miles left" and "normal wear and tear" this just tells me they don't have a clue whether or not the part is like new or ready for the garbage or bent and worn.

IM not sure what this is worth, but this looks like its been ridden more than once, or at least was stored in very poor conditions.
