Looks like one of these - https://www.amazon.com/Delta-Cycle-TD...d_sim_sbs_sg_7

is this normal?
The stem setup appears to be functional, though it is extremely awkward in appearance. I'm guessing the current owner wanted to have height adjustment left over, just in case the stem might need to come up more, for whatever reason.

Could be somebody with a back or neck issue that can't bend over too far or bend their neck up when in the usual drop position. I have a friend in just such a situation. Why get a bike this? They still want a road bike so the LBS accommodates for the customer.

I don't see how that ad is hipster-bashing. If anything, he is completely playing to the hipster crowd by being "hipster sarcastic." Classic Craigslist attention-grabbing technique to sell a POS item.

This guy chose the smugly sarcastic "don't you have anything better to do" approach, when told this bike was not a 2010 model. The guy he bought it from told him it was 2010 model, so he automatically believed him, and is sticking to his guns.

Just something I've noticed, that there usually only three kinds of responses people reach for, when told something about the bike they're selling on CL. They thank you for the info, they explode into obscenities and/or threaten violence, or they choose the smug sarcastic approach. It seldom deviates from these three. Interesting.

We've had poor ads, minimalist with little or no description. Or we've had ads with horrific pictures. How these ****ers think they can sell anything is beyond me! So, to complete the circle of shame, here's one with both a lousy/tiny pic and no description to speak of:

Shortly after I posted a Cannondale 2.8 R900 with 600 tricolor group for $450, some deluded fellow posted his R600 for $850, oh and his has a little dent on the seat tube.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/3812007306.html

[h=2]Cannondale Road Bike - $850 (albany / el cerrito)[/h]

R600 2.8 Aluminum Cannondale with Shimano cranks, brakes and parts, Vittoria Rubino tires. The front rim is a Mavic CPX 10 with a Shimano RX 100 hub and the back is an XLC with Shimano hub. Super light and sturdy, but it does have a dent in seat tube from a wreck from previous owner. I use to ride it to work from El Cerrito to 29th and Broadway in Oakland when I was teaching and no problems whatsoever. I am unemployed and moving far away and I could use the money. $850 or best offer.

So I call a guy about his early Trek on CL for $100.
His first response was, "I just pulled the ad. My wife put that on there and she always sells my **** for too little."

I think he's referring to the price of the current Sasquatch, as if they're somehow comparable:

Still, the old one is pretty cool...

Not a LOT wrong with the ad, but, the things that ARE wrong just seemed to crack me up. i.e. a 120mm travel bike described as a 6 inch travel bike; the way they spelled Shimano: Shimaon
I must be in a weird mood or something, need some Scotch....

https://spokane.craigslist.org/bik/3772439593.html

[h=2]New Devinci Remix SL 5 Mountain Bike Fox - $1650 (Post Falls)[/h]

The Devinici was Just Built up. The frame was bought new three months ago and put together by a local bike shop. The frame is new old stock, bought from Canada. It's a 2010 frame with 3 miles on it only to test ride. Everything works like it should

The fork was bought in 2010 and has about 200 miles on it. Everything works peferctly. Full XT Drive Train bought in 2010 and now has 200 miles on it. Used XT cranks with new Chain Rings and Bottom Bracket, 2011 Shimano Disc Brakes with new pads, new raceface bashguard, new teflon cables and housing. 2009 WTB Dual Duty Wheelset on Laser Disc Hubs (450 miles on it). I don't know if this really qualifies as "wacky". Starting bid is $1850, BIN is $2500. I understand the BMX crowd is getting crazy money for some stuff. They all look like Wal-Mart bikes to me though:
