Spanglish has a lot of wonderful possibilities. I have a friend whose young son calls socks "socketines" a cross between the English word and the Spanish word "calcetines."

It's just the misspelling that is funny, sort of a mixed Spanish/English phonetic spelling of "horquilla" which means "fork."

Call me ignorant, but I've never seen shifters on the head tube when there are clearly mounts brazed onto the down tube. And that is just a crazy amount of extension for the stem.
I am having visions of the handlebars having been turned up in a hobo-ish fashion. Somewhere there is a Ciocc screaming...

a "roach Ciocc" for sure the fork is not original. I like how he mentions down tube shifters in the add, I guess they are technically down on a tube..

Brooks makes a lot of different saddles. I had a plastic one with springs made for mountain bikes.

And curved top tube frames were associated with whats commonly called compact frames, a one size fits all approach to frames. It provides additional standover height closer to the seat. Again a measure done to save money and cost of having to build 8 sizes as is often done today. Most compacts tend to have the curved, bent top tube. Buy Jr a compact frame and it grew with him.

its actually in very nice condition. I get you on "nice one". Id swap either of my two for that one in a heartbeat, its clean, no rips and very well kept considering its at least 30 years old.

It's not about being too lazy to go to the LBS. He is looking for a bike mechanic and he also states that there is miner work to be done. It's obvious that the bikes are buried deep underground and broken. So, after the miners dig down to them, the mechanic will fix them. That way, they will be in pristine condition when they are finally brought to the surface.

I posted this one back in March... shockingly, it still hasn't sold. I even emailed the seller and (politely, I believe), gave some tips for improving the ad. Of course, I got no reply. Now I find myself getting increasingly agitated every time the ad gets renewed...

Google or do research otherwise you make yourself look dunce. When most bike manufacturing switched to Asia with cheap vinyl saddles, Brooks had to make cheap models to compete. When I built my first "all pedal" what Americans call fixed gear in 1985. I used a Brooks vinyl saddle that cost me new the equivalent of US $14, bought from a Raleigh store. Brooks is the only company left in Birmingham from an era when they were 200 shops and factories within a three mile vicinity. They made\did what they had to, to survive. People and companies do that. Everybody has a dirty past.
