I don't see much wacky other than this is a fairly rare frame. Nothing seems made up Exon did make these frames during the 70's mainly for there race team.

Exxon bought the design from Larry Blake who called it the Line Seeker. John Howard was a pro bike rider and did ride a Graftek for the Exxon Cool Gear team, but as far as I know had nothing to do with designing the frame, so yes, that bit seems made up.

Admittedly, a marginal bike for what's probably an appropriate price, but... is this really the best job you can do with the photo?

Considering those are Pure Fix brand bikes that retail for $390, those prices aren't out of line at all. I'm not commenting on their intrinsic value, they just aren't priced out of line.
