I assume the vapor equipment wanted in trade is some sort of doobie apparatus. It all makes sense.

BTW I rode a Trek 1000 from about '91 thru 2002. Can't believe I held on to that bike for so long.

I have wondered if people post ads with bad, or missing photos because the ownership of the bike is disputed. $150 wouldn't be bad for the bike, assuming it is at least as good as the photo, and actually had matching wheels.

I missed the Vapor trades... but starting July 1, 2015, Oregon will join the Vapor Legal states... along with national capital, but not the national government.

I didn't know whether I should post this here or the "Are You Looking For One of These" thread, but the price is definitely wacky. What had me on the fence was that beautiful paint job.

Anybody need some help with superlatives?

One bike to outcool them all - $100

Woah! This bike is awesome! It's lavendar purple and grey! It's an old track bicycle frame, with two, count 'em two, Bontrager tires, and one quick release wheel! It's got Shimano brakes, and yellow handle wrap that is kind of coming undone on the right side. It goes fast, like super fast. It's a fixie that regularly beat a full size car through downtown. Does that have anything to do with traffic lights? Maybe, but we're not saying one way or the other. Would you like to buy it? Of course you do!

The rack held on with zip-ties is a nice touch.

Anybody know the difference between a classic track bike and an old junker with horizontal dropouts?

I'd give the hundred for the bike behind the one being offered, but no way his gaspipe special is worth it. Probably a Huffy/Murray junker and not a track frame of any type, except possibly imagined.

Any idea what he is talking about? It actually sounds very interesting... but a photo would be nice.
I sent the guy an E-Mail asking for a photo and a better description. We'll see what becomes of it. Of course, a bike in Michigan doesn't help a lot.

Maybe some type of bakfiets thing. Still hoping it's a giant fiberglass potato with wheels, though.

What is weird?

Do you recognize the model? It looks to me like the basic steel MTB. 100% working, and in good condition, it might be worth $100 to $120 tops. A bedframe and tennis shoes makes an odd backdrop.

Maybe late 90's Giant Rincon????

I'd say an excellent price, but yes, the bedframe as a backdrop? I mean, is that what he rides in bed?

[h=2]Peugeot PX-10 Super Competition (Super vitus tubing( - $199 (Astoria Park)[/h]https://newyork.craigslist.org/que/bik/4917756145.html

craigslist - Map data OpenStreetMap

(google map) (yahoo map)

condition: salvage

Bike is far from perfect. It has a dented right seatstay, that can be fixed. But the dent is there.
Also headset has issues- it will not turn easily. Probably needs lube. Not sure. Tires have no air.

the good part is that it is a PX-10 Super Competition that still has following original parts:
StronglightCrank ( good conditino)
Stronglight headset (needs lube, maybe other issues there)
Front derailleur - has rust, crome peeled off
Simplex Shifters - ok
Stem - ok
Handlebar with break levers - ok
Break calipers - a lot of wear

all of above are original, some parts are good, some are more beat up.

rear derailleur and wheel are more modern - shimano sora.

It's a good donor bike if you need vintage peugeot parts, or a great beater bike as it is.

24" frame size.
please note, bike is beat up and not very clean.

A little battered looking.

A good sign that the bike has been "well loved".

Since the PX-10 is one of the most sought after Peugeots, I'd say that is a good price point.

WHEW!!!!

He has several beat up frames, and a set of brakes... "reasonable" prices on the frames, but shipping off the charts.
Oddly, if you put "Italy" as the ship-to location, it comes up with FREE shipping.

A few years ago it was common for sellers to put the "sale value" in the shipping, with a token amount for the actual cost. This is one of the reasons why E-Bay has the Price+Shipping for sorting, and apparently adjusted the fee structure to reflect both the sales cost and shipping cost. Taxes?

If you really want the frame, send a note to the seller suggesting $100 to $150 shipping is common for international orders. Boxes are normally free at most bike shops. You can probably track down UPS or Fedex rates.

A couple from the Atlanta CL...

Vintage 1981 Fuji Royale Mixte-Immaculate!

1989 Peugeot Deauville road bike-Vintage Gallic Unicorn !

I would say...although I am not expert on either Peugeot or Fuji...that they have a bit of optimistic pricing!

Seat stays are badly bent. The fork is also bent, and there may be a bend in the top tube - which would explain why the headset is binding. The bike appears to have front impact damage - which is what happens when you ride with a soy latte and an iPhone and don't pay attention to where you're going.

Since the PX-10 is one of the most sought after Peugeots, I'd say that is a good price point.
It's an '83 PSV-10. The Super Vitus tubing and the chrome fork were the giveaways. See https://cyclespeugeot.com/images/1983...PX10_PZ10D.jpg

The bike would be much more valuable if it were intact and original, and it's currently neither. In fact it's probably unsafe to ride. There are quite a few non-original parts, so it doesn't even make sense to flip those.

But the listing is in NYC and right next to Williamsburg and Greenpoint, so I expect it to sell at or above list price.
