That's funny. They should also sell realistically phallic-shaped housing ferrules.

You could get into trouble with that one, especially if you attached it to the brake cable so that it would move every time you applied the brakes.

Well of course you'd have to design it so it would be functionally correct. I'm imagining a regular ferrule, but with a bulge on the non-end side which would be spooging black (or whatever color the housing is)

It might be fun to design unique castings.

I could imagine brake calipers that were designed to look like a thumb and index finger grabbing the wheel, and perhaps a middle finger for the cable stop.

Your brake levers could also look like a hand and fingers (or whatever other anatomical part you wish).

Although, I did find a discussion on it. Others weren't that kind on pricing.

However, I think the "double triangle" rule is being enforced with at least some races, so it would limit the use of the bike for racing. It still would be a fun bike.

How do you lock it?

Oh, and I'd hate to hunt for replacement spokes.

Somehow you lost "https://sacramento.craigslist.org/" from all of your links. I think I've fixed them.

I must say that I'd have troubles paying $850 for ANY MTB.
But that is just me

It can be difficult for a non-bike person to discern the subtle differences between bikes (which is why the Dept Store bikes do so well with their flashy colors & lead frames). Hopefully the buyers can sort out some of the differences.

And, of course, accepting the loss they take for riding the bike off of the showroom floor.

Despite years of abuse, I think my old road bike may well have held its value. If I hadn't ridden it, then it might have tripled in value. But, that is all based on buying it used to begin with.

This is a pretty unique bike.

Handcycle for disabled - $900 (Cottage grove)

Hi I have a hand cycle for sale. I myself am a paraplegic and have rode this bike everywhere. I just had it all reconditioned, New paint, New tires/tubes, New brakes and cables. New strapping on the seat, I always used my cushion out of my wheelchair to sit on. Also has Velcro straps to keep your feet in place...In very good condition. I have been in a wheelchair going on 26 yrs and I am gonna need surgery on my shoulders so time to let this go to someone that can use it....

Thanks for looking and if you have questions ill be glad to answer any I can....

And on the Wacky side.
Someone else on Craigslist noticed this one.

1973 Schwinn Varsity Vintage 10 speed bike - $85 (Eugene)
RE:1973 Schwinn Varsity Vintage 10 speed bike

19.5 " women's 1973 Schwinn Varsity 10 speed. everything looks like it is original equipment....... For people that want this bike for collectibility, or for serviceability , and I replaced the inner wire on rear brake. Everything is in very nice shape especially the paint. It is a bright shiny sunset orange.. But still rideable. Winner of auction can pay me an extra $40 and I will install new tires before I ship. I rode this bike and it feels very nice and solid for a 41 year old bike.
I've had several Schwinn Varsity's and THAT does NOT look like a womens frame. (The second pic is a 73 womens Varsity)
All original? Not those pedals or rims I've had several Schwinn Varsity's and THAT does NOT look like a womens frame. (The second pic is a 73 womens Varsity)
All original? Not those pedals or rims
And 10 speed? Only one chain ring and no cable for the rear derailleur

And 10 speed? Only one chain ring and no cable for the rear derailleur
With such a minimal picture... so many flaws, one has to wonder what a photo of the whole bike would show.

I'm a bit surprised that one can't see the rear wheel in the photo. And there definitely are right and left cable stops on the frame, so I would have to assume it wasn't built as a 5-speed.

What does this mean********** "Winner of auction can pay me an extra $40 and I will install new tires before I ship. " Stolen description?

A lot of older cheap road bikes had the bars tipped up. At last that one was done with enough care that they've both reversed the bars and reversed the brakes.

The cargo bike that I'm working on restoring came with similar bars, but only a single brake lever (for a bike that may be twice has heavy as a "normal" bike + rider). Although the cargo bars also had grips added to them, and interesting touch.

If the Rat Rod author is in Ohio, I have to assume it is not the same bike, and the photos are also 2009 vintage.
Plus the SS build.

It is a nice bike though.

May want to post this in the Adaptive Cycling forum, rather than here, as I don't think this is a "Wacky" ad at all.

I see your point. I didn't intend any offence. I thought it was a unique homebuilt project and adaptation.
But, I may also add a link there.

Ok,
I've tacked it onto a query about handcycles over there, as well as a comment about one I saw for sale in a store.

That bike is in nice condition. Not too high quality, but still nice condition. I find it hard to justify the new production Mixtes (which could run you in the $2K range) when there are so many nice old ones around. Perhaps snag an old one and upgrade. But, steel wheels, cotters, Simplex, etc. It is a pretty mediocre build.

I just missed a Univega Mixte for $25

No doubt the seller has to sell the bike to support his "shroom" habit.

For that price, it might be worth it for the parts. Champion #5 frame tubes? I've never heard of that, maybe the seller means Tange Champion #2 ? Maybe the frame has some value too.
