(Silly Little Old Lady, Trex is for kids.)
Yet, a Trek 400 isn't the top of the line, but if it is a mid 80's model, it might make a nice bike, and $50 would be a more than reasonable price if it is in good condition.

Little old lady? Maybe the smallest frame available?

I should update my bike list. I have a blue '87 Trek 400D Elance with the Reynolds 531 main tubes (and perhaps Tange stays and fork): sweet ride.

The price is totally reasonable, pretty much regardless of year. I found the text and misspelling amusing is all.

And your presumed point is taken; perhaps this does more fittingly belong over in "Are You Looking..."?

That bike is missing the skirt guards. It doesn't even have a full chainguard.

Just don't let anyone right sidesaddle then.

"Rear Derailleur is screwed up, but you and I both know that it's a 10 minute fix with screwdriver and pliers!"

And is that his Social Security Number etched on the top tube?

https://greensboro.craigslist.org/bi...244499293.html

Puegeot Road Bike Needs Rear Derailleur Made in FRANCE - $125 (Lexington NC)

condition: good
make / manufacturer: Does anyone even read this?

I sell a lot of bikes. Very soon I'm gonna have a motorhome, and when I do I'm gonna need another bike to keep in the motorhome. I'm pricing this bike what I believe to be high, so I can tell the wife YES Its listed. But you're gonna have to want it. I wont take less. These old Peugeot bikes are VERY lightweight, VERY strong, and I like them. The rear derailleur is missing the smaller gears, but you and I both know that's a 10 minute fix. If this one sells Ill put my paramount in the motorhome. If it doesn't the paramount stays inside the shop. You know how it is. Never enough bikes. Its a 24" frame, with 27" wheels. All the gears seem to shift correctly and smoothly, so just replace the 2 small gears with a screwdriver and pliers, and you're ready to ride. show contact info LEXINGTON NC 27295

Make sure those rails are good and rusty Fortunately glass shouldn't be a big problem.

Looks like wheelbarrow rims. I wonder how frequently it pops off of the rails. Also, it looks like the two riders have to self synchronize. I could imagine periodically getting a tangled mess.

I wonder how easy it is to assemble/disassemble for transport, or riding solo.

Are there any V-Shaped valleys on that abandoned rail system?

I suppose the rail companies don't like rolling hills, so perhaps the only risk would be someone coming down a hill as another is climbing.

But how do you get on the bikes? Maybe the outer bar, though it seems too close. Hold one down while you get up on the other with the outside pedal,so as not to tip them? In any case...looks like fun lol

Lol! I think both people would at least have to put hands on bars simultaneously. Mixte rider on first (lightly), maybe leaning inward slightly. Other person on, full weight, adjust and go. I think it would be fun as well.

"Training"... Excellent.

This entry, I believe, falls more into the "sigh" or "sad" category.

1967 Schwinn Paramount, which is nice, but with newer '80s graphics (like another thread), rough-ish paint, some cheap parts in not the greatest shape, and a too-high price tag.

someone is in denial....
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/bik...331302583.html

The bike is a Schwinn & a great looking retro road bike. The frame is not bent and it's not stolen. It's mine & It needs wheels and a little TLC - if you have time and knowledge it would be a beautiful re finished bike project! Probe was an '89 only "City bike" that was built in Greenville MS. That plant closed a few years later in '91. So it really is a classic Schwinn American Made and rare road bike!

Someone is selling the frame alone for the same price on another site - here's their description:
1980's Schwinn Probe frameset including frame, fork, headset, and seatpost. Carried steel frame with metallic blue sparkle paint.
It takes 26" wheels and canti/v-brakes.
OR fits 700c wheels with long-reach road brakes (see picture).

**** mine is NOT a stripped frame. It's basically missing wheels only. It's in my garage waiting for you to get some wheels, give it a tuneup and ride it!
do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers

I saw that ad a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to write the seller about the frame so badly but I decided to keep it to myself and wanted to see how far this fool will go. lol
I'd take it for FREE for the parts though.
