Sounds like this guy is just a little lonely and is looking for a nice C&V bike date. That poster has me weak at the knees though, his strategy is working...

I have 3 peugeots, a nishiki, trek, raleigh, benotto, torelli, and a bunch of other vintage and component parts.
call Manny show contact info if you have any questions.
i will try to answer as best i can.
come check them out and there's no obligation to buy, no pressure.
thanks and have a very beautiful day riding your vintage bike!

Guy has really hurt the CL market around here with his junk saves. Imagine wasting your time to come see one these. I'm pretty sure he works with the local scrap dealers to get his inventory.

Yeah he has. Sad thing is I'm sure he doesn't care about these bikes like we do.

Can't be sure of that. He may have the time and space and funds to indulge himself, keeping the real goodies for his own collection and getting rid of everything else. I'm not saying that's the case, but it's better than thinking that he's also stripping and churning the nice bikes.

I have a buddy like that. He's crazy about bikes but knows practically nothing about them and can't differentiate good from bad. He practically lives on the street in all parts of town and combs the alleys so finds all kinds of things. I've told him to call me if certain things turn up and I'd buy them from him but he's an unreliable source and I prefer not to think of the things he might pass up because they're some ugly light green color or they have old Italian parts on them.

Can't see $2200 for a 400 Elance, I don't care how many White Industries parts you hang on it.

I turned the stem on my daughter's bike when I first bought it because the bike was too big for her. It worked. I didn't want to buy something nice she would outgrow, so she rode it that way for a year until she grew into it. She still rides it 5 years later.

Early 90s Novara Corsa sport touring bike, and the seller is asking $400. Okay, already overpriced. The kicker here is this paragraph from the ad:

The real gem of this setup, and a significant reason for my asking price of $400, is the wheelset. 36 hole Deore LX (m570) hubs are laced 3 cross to Velocity Atlas touring rims. These puppies are wide (25mm) and heavy, and ready to take whatever you can throw at them. They've got maybe 200 miles on them. Unfortunately, in that short life I did have a cousin do some curb slamming on the rear wheel and it has a small hop to show for it. It doesn't affect braking, and with most tires you won't feel it.
Sure, at least he was kind enough to let the issue be known. But why would he think people would be interested in paying extra for faulty components...

But Wait, There's More!!!

Not only is he offering a bulletproof wheelset that can't handle curbs, he'll throw in new cables, brake pads, bar end shifters, a new chain to replace the kinky one on there, replace the steel bars and wrap them with new tape, AND supply a used Brooks for the low low price of only $200, bringing the total to a modest $600!

"The components are nothing special -- pretty standard entry level shimano stuff. The hoods on the levers are pretty gummy and the steel handlebars could use new tape. The pads are braking fine but are shimano's older compound which is very hard. A newer/softer compound would stop you on a dime. I'm glad to install alloy bars, new levers, modern pads, new cables, a fresh chain, and new tape for an extra $100, and bar end shifters for another $40. And if you're looking for the full kit I have a near-new Brooks professional kicking around that I can throw in for $60. "

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...384063549.html

The guy's a Prince. His loss is your gain! You'll learn to love "pretty gummy hoods"!

(I do applaud his honesty, and in a fashion admire his audacity.)

"Old Dead Guy. Free Local Pickup"

That's gotta be the strangest EBay bike ad I have ever seen.

Below is the strangest Craigslist bike ad I have ever seen. This person mentions everything but the CIA Lemon Party Gestapo in the ad below. How the ad ended up in the "Bicycles for Sale by Dealer" section, I will never know. The photographer's shadow is a nice touch.

"It is a solid steel frame bike with fine detail in the lug work and "Tange" tubing.
Bike weighs in fully dressed at 26lbs, wheels at 1900g combined, 7 speed "Shimano" shifter.
The bike is made for comfort with upright bars and a fully padded seat.
The graphic is custom duct tape that has been specially applied with permanent adhesive, stays on the bike for 3 years without problems."

wonder if theres a decent bike under all that "permanent" "3 years" "custom duct tape" smh

You might also want to check grandma's front brakes.
Man, I just hate it when people have a dramatic write up of their item and can't even tell that both brakes are disconnected. Get your act together, dipcrap!

First $50 Grandmas Beloved Vintage Motebecane 10 Speed - $50 (emeryville)

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik...390035082.html
Hello.
As much as I regret. I must part with grandma's beloved vintage Motobecane Walkthrough Ten Speed bicycle. She loved and cherished this bicycle. She rode her bike everywhere. I kept them well maintained and tuned. The bike is in good condition and rides well. It may have a few minor scratches on the frame. but nothing serious. The memories of this bike are priceless. But we would love for someone special to own and cherish this nostalgic beauty as our grandma did for many years. I will describe this bicycle , its condition and all information that I have knowledge about.
Please only contact if you are available....TODAY ! Thank you and God Bless !

* Grandmas Vintage Motebecane Walkthrough Ten Speed (Made In France)....Rides and Maneuvers Well...Rear Brake Cable needs to be reattached ( It is not broken)....$50.00 Great Bike !
