It became even funnier when I noticed the seller hasn't sold a thing in the last year. I wonder how long that has been gathering dust…

The chrome finish on this Schwinn comes as a result of deboning the frame, searing it until it's well-colored then slow-cooking it in wine for hours at a low temp: https://kansascity.craigslist.org/bi...424550809.html.

(It actually looks like a pretty neat bike.)

When I first saw the heading on this, I was interested - then saw the pictures.
Looks to me like a ARX rear derailleur, Gardin fork. I'm not sure but looks like when they removed the cable guides they ground right through the top tube?

Vintage Guerciotti 60 cm Columbus steel road bike.
$650
Vintage Guerciotti Classic Italian road bike 80s Campagnolo Super Record 1. Everything works well!

Oh man does that break my heart, but I'd love to have the seatpost for mine. I think the top tube is OK, looks like they just painted it where the guides had been. (I hope!)

To All Old school bmx hunter Wanted to buy ad's - $1 (Town)

Your stupid wanted to buy ad's are the reason they all disappeared and you can't find them anymore! You all must have a 6th grade education at best. Letting everybody know what's hot, including the brands, Hmmmmmmmmm and you genious's wonder why all you see available now are schwinns and huffys.

1. "Wanted to buy"....duh!!
2. "Looking for your".....duh!!
3. "Here's what I'm looking for"..... MY GOD!!! no words can even describe how dumb that one is, telling everyone the brands so every peddler, man, woman & child across the country can look for them too to try and make a buck.

So Way to go you business geniuses, time for all of you to go and find a new hobby and collectible to ruin, you already ruined this one forever more, the only place your going to find the good bikes now is full blown retail on eBay because of you low I.Q. genious's who unfortunately acquired a smart phone and discovered free social advertisement, and in turn ruined it for your self and everyone else.

So Pull your stupid ad's that generate nothing, stop trying to rip everyone off, and get back to finding them in sales and thrift centers like you did when you actually did acquire some bikes.
You got greedy and ruined yourselves and the fun in collecting.

Well done, you should all be proud of how smart you are. Sad thing is you brainiacs still won't understand why they all disappeared even though it just got spelled out for you. Like a bunch of toddlers, have to have each letter sounded out for you and you still probably dont understand your own dumbness, Actually the toddlers are probably smarter.

It's vague and fuzzy because otherwise it would have to be in Personals b4b, being an L erotica.

Rant Of The Day

BICYCLE BLUE BOOK SCAM!!! WARNING!!! (Hampton)

"BICYCLE BLUE BOOK is an EBAY store that tricks you into believing your bike is not worth much and they turn around and sell it for twice to three times as much on EBAY. They have partnered with Performance Bikes and other bike shops to get your bike so they can resell at the "RIGHT" price. Above is what happened to me. The trade-in on MY 2007 full carbon Fuji Team RC bike with 10 speed Ultegra was only $280 at Performance Bikes with a "Private Party Value" of only $312 ("GOOD" CONDITION). They got my bike and they are now selling it for $614 with $75 shipping on EBAY. That bike cost me over $3500 new. 10 speed Ultegra level Carbon bike are currently selling for $700 to $1000 on EBAY. I just did not want to deal with shipping a bike, but I should have did some research before turning my bike in at Performance Bikes.

Above is the actual bike that I traded in and the auction where they are re-selling it on EBAY. The other pictures are other examples about how ridiculously far off the "VALUE GUIDE" is vs. what the bikes are really worth.

Tell all of your friends!!!! I understand that they are a business, but manipulating a "Value Guide / Blue Book" for their financial gain is just dirty business. You can safely assume a bike is worth about double the price they report. This will factor in the reality of real-world demand because people don't want to pay 100% retail on a brand new bike.

DON'T BELIEVE THE BLUE BOOK PRICING!!! Look at EBAY's "COMPLETED ITEMS" for the REAL value of a bike you are buying or selling. You will find that bikes really DO NOT depreciate much. In fact, older bikes have much better components. Just look at the new Shimano / Campy 11 speed stuff. It all has such thin teeth on the gears and chainrings that wear out twice as fast as a quality 9 or 10 speed groupset with meaty gears and chains. Brand new frames are not made nearly as well either.

If you can buy or sell your bike for 1/3 to 1/2 of the original retail of that bike, you are getting / paying the right price. If you really want a particular bike, go ahead and pay 3/4 of its original cost. You will still save a ton of money compared to buying it brand new at the bike shop. You can get a higher component group or maybe even get a nice carbon fiber frame for the cost of an the bike shop's entry level bike. Also, bikes really don't wear out unless you are putting 2000 plus miles a year on it. A close inspection will obviously show if a bike has been taken care of and how much it was ridden.

Again.....TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS!!!! They may be missing out on making money when they need to sell their bike or they may be missing out on a great deal because most sellers already know what their bike is REALLY worth and they would be foolish like me to sell it for less."

I'm afraid the seller has too much patience for it to drop into a price range that would make my project viable. I wonder if I could take a tax deduction on repair cost if I called it a charitable act.

I think someone posted that Merckx a while ago.
Ugliest frame repair EVER!

The ad seems to be down now, but perhaps it will pop back up. It might be a fun repair to try to put it back to original.

I suppose the question is what led to that repair. If I was in the middle of a tour, and somewhere where there were very limited resources available, then I'd cringe, but do a quick and dirty frame repair to keep on the road.

On the other hand, if I was just riding a fixie around down and a dropout came loose, I'd try to get it fixed right.

Still, it depends on whether one is doing one's own work vs hiring out the job. I can't imagine any professional frame builder would hardly attempt even the simplest repair for less than $100. So, one would have to determine whether pulling out one's stick welder was worth saving that $100+repair.

"21 speed, smooth gears, good bike. Obo"

("Purrs along"? "Perfect Condition"? "Not a scratch on it....yet"? "Buy this bike or the cat dies"? "Recently tuna-ed up"?
