If he is going to ask 4x market pricing, you'd think that the seller would at least pump up the tires and tidy it up a bit.

And shoot the bike from the drive side. And shoot it horizontally, the way humans have taken photographs for 160+ years. And shoot it while standing, not leaning against a convenient flagpole. And not treat it like a classified from 1986, paid for by the word. And not LIE about "disc" brakes. And not name the bike after a band from the bike's era.

I'm having trouble figuring out what this is (aside from incomplete, overpriced and buggered up): https://ksu.craigslist.org/bik/d/wam...326199517.html . Aluminum main tubes bonded to steel HT and stays, media blasted and then left to corrode?

Apparently this is a legit product! Regretfully the company (German) no longer ships abroad so no more will be available.....
Arguably the weirdest cycling product I've ever seen and that includes a leather pouch thing you can use to carry a liter of wine under your top tube.
Perfect accessory for your next Century

This one is fun - a wildly overpriced Raleigh (under a third-party brand) roadster falling apart. The fun part is that the seller tried to pick our brains a few months ago, but ultimately ignored the majority of the advice or information shared in the thread they started: Trying to find info on old "Conqueror" bike. Naturally, no disclosure about the bent fork (what did you expect, honesty?).
Plus, they said "the valuation isn't important right now" in their original thread.

That was my thought. Looks like a homeless encampment that someone local wants gone, so they're trying to get someone to go and take the bikes/parts from the camp (and probably get the police to come to the resulting fight).

Truth in advertising....It Just means newly put in the box...not original.

I sent a gentle message saying that the pedals were Look Keo and box Shimano SPD so they were likely not new in box...

Thoughts on flipping and on overcharging. I included ad photos in the interests of, ah, posterity....
https://hartford.craigslist.org/bik/...338860517.html

C'mon people, get your heads out of your a$$e$!
Rules to post by:
-Don't call yourself or anyone around you a bicycle mechanic if you aren't one! (Auto mechanics typically know nothing about bikes!)
-A used bicycle is always worth less than the price it was purchased for new!
-Please stop posting bikes that have rusted chains or worn frames as new or never ridden bicycles. (Glastonbury, that is for you!)
-A bicycle that originated in a box store is never worth more than $100! Typically way less, even if it looks like it never hit the road. This is reality.
-Just because it is a name brand bike, doesn't mean that is worth money! A Trek 830 that is 25 years old, worn seat, bad cables, rusted chain, and dry rotted tires is definitely not a $300 bike.
-If you do buy a beat up bicycle with the intent to make some money, put some time and effort, as well as some parts into it. Don't buy a 21 year old K2 Razorback for $95 bucks and post it the same day for 3 times that unless you have put in the work to make it a decent bike for someone to ride. It probably needs cables, seat, chain work, and seals and service on shocks. There is a profit to be made, but don't be a ****** and just list it with a stock photo and it's original specs!
-A used bike is a used bike! Stop telling people that you are selling a brand new "demo" bike. It's dishonest, a straight up lie.
-If you need help valuing a bicycle, check "bicyclebluebook.com" , you will at least get a sense of what it is worth. If the bike is really nice, often you can fairly ask for more than it's valuation, but, a 30 year old mountain bike that retailed for $2000 new, will never be worth more than $400 today, even if it is perfect. (Some exceptions, Homegrown, Moots, Fat Chance, etc)
-Selling a bike that you are not qualified to evaluate for safety as "perfect, needs nothing" to someone that is buying it for a kid to ride is wrong and makes you a bad person.
Please pay attention to these things as they are important. Craigslist is infested with jerks trying to price gouge and dupe trusting folks who just want to go for a bike ride. If you wouldn't pay what you are asking or if you would be upset if one of your children got tricked into buying a crappy bike then maybe you should reevaluate your priorities.
Those who are ripping people off will flag this post, but, I am happy to k on that there won't be enough of you to take it down. Only you won't see it, but everyone else will.

That's a fine post and public service. Who knows, maybe it will make the "best of" thread on Craigslist; I gave it an upvote as it was clearly some fine info-tainment.

I'd just about swear that this stumpjumper has been listed on Seattle Craigslist for at least five years. Heck, it's probably already posted in this thread...
