Bike brand: "Trex". Isn't that the company that makes composite decking??
Is that model actually made of titanium?

Looked like a 728 to me (DC centerpull brakes), predated the 720 with cantis. Full Reynolds 531.

Sellers who use the CL dropdowns and who don't proofread their ads deserve whatever flack they catch from those who respond. Also, those who try to sell bikes that are bent, as this one appears to be.

Dude calls this a "hairline crack."
In fairness, he is only asking for an offer on this Panasonic tourer.

Looks like that joint was never brazed at all !

Since the brake is a canti, that bridge is lightly loaded and a crack there might not affect the function much. It's true the stays will flex more under hard braking if you don't have a bridge there, but then again it's only a rear brake, nothing too critical. The brake will still work fine, just a bit mushier feel at the lever.

I'd be curious to see if the crack opens up when you squeeze the brake lever hard. If it doesn't, then the braze is still there holding it together and the crack would be fair to call "hairline" (though that term is not well-defined). If the crack does open up, then the bridge is fully detached there, connected only to the other stay. Probably still works 100% fine for its main job, holding up the fender.

For $30k (you read that right), you'd think shipping would be free, even from France.

Probably Carlton and not Charlton, and might be (Raleigh) Super Course or higher quality. Decent components for the era but overpriced, I'd say. If you can get it for half the ask it might be a nice find. I've actually never seen one but seen plenty like it.

Yes, Carlton. I just found references to bike built by Carlton for Huffy in the 60's and early 70's. It looks to be a decent built bike, and rare. But yes, overpriced and not my size anyway.

Dilemma

Do you believe this seller actually has $375 in these bikes (in which case he is a moron) or do you believe he's a scammer who thinks that he can claim an artificially high value for these things to suck a buyer in?

To be fair the chain protectors are neat....

Probably worth $100 for the pair. But where did they invest $350 into them?? Certainly not for cleaning!

Raleigh "raising" bicycle. Has all the hallmarks of an enthusiast-owned machine; screwed-down QR levers, taped and battered Brooks Team Professional saddle, etc., but only 70 bucks in CT.

Given the wild prices for BMX stuff, this AMF Avenger 350mx might actually be a good deal, but it was still too weird to put into the regular Are You Looking For One of These thread. The big front wheel isn't standard, but I did enjoy looking at the totally alien girder fork and bars.

Im not sure what the front ones are good for but I have a set of rears in my toolbox. I’ve used them when working on rear wheels. I also understand that back in the day when most people still rode steel frames a good team or pit mechanic with spare time would use a set to make the the QRs on spare wheels were properly set.

The fronts could be made into bottle openers
