Rant of the day!
How can you tell Fall is coming?
Every year like clockwork ,the used Brooks saddles appear and soon they flood the market. Every seller says the saddle either was rode just once, just mounted but never ridden or just never ridden. The only truthful part of the ad is when the seller says they didn't like it. Almost all of them are obviously lying.
Here's a typical example:

https://flagstaff.craigslist.org/bop...528698647.htmlBrooks Saddle B17 Unused - $99 (Flagstaff) AZ

Unused you say? What are those marks on the rails?

The trick to buying a used Brooks is to accept that a lot of people hear the stories of the magical qualities of Brooks products. They buy the saddles and a) don't realize that the break in period involves more riding than they will do do in their lives and b) don't realize that leather has to be treated with respect (requires Proofhide, can't leave out in the rain, occasionally wipe down, don't drop bike on the saddle, don't rest bike upside down on the saddle and don't let the saddle slide along a brick or concrete wall).
In a few months there will be lots more, actual good examples, some in the original boxes and they will be much cheaper as the snow flies. I just wait patiently like a vulture and every year I see three or four - usually B17 but often Pros for under $50, with Proofhide and wrench.

Seriously? Did the seller just slide down a flight of concrete steps using the boxed saddle as a sled?

The ad text is way calmer than the bike would have me expect. Weird grab bag of other stuff stapled onto the patriotic theme like 420, a skull (I guess all the founding fathers had skulls).

^^^^^ WW bonus points for PFIF (photographer's feet in frame) - he missed the double bonus, however, by not wearing sandals / flip-flops.
